Advancing In Faith Is The Key To Righteousness
(Passage: 1 Peter 2)
All Christians are expected to grow in faith and be productive for our master Jesus Christ. No Christian should remain dormant in his or her spiritual assignments, as the scripture emphasized,
“Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:1-2).
Growth In Faith Is Required To Fight Against Temptations
God requires Christians to build and maintain a good relationship with him. He does not expect anyone to remain a “baby Christian.” Babies drink milk, but adults eat solid food! Mature Christians conduct themselves honorably among gentiles, and they are productive for God (1 Peter 2:11-12). Therefore, anyone who professes to know God for a period of time must be able to bear fruits for Jesus. However, Satan would keep insensitive Christians busy with petty activities that can rob them of their blessings. The enemy can easily manipulate “Baby Christians” to think towards worldly vices.
Their thoughts and practices would promote malice, fighting, immorality, jealousy, pride, and others. As long as a Christian engages in such evil practices, he or she will find it difficult to advance in faith; such a person cannot bear abiding fruits for God’s kingdom. Any Christian who expects God’s blessing on earth (and in heaven) must lay aside petty sinful activities. A mature Christian must engage in activities that will always make God happy with him/her.
Prayer For Assistance From God
Dear God, please help me to be a serious Christian who will not be disappointed on the last day of judgment. Help me to focus on living a lifestyle that will glorify your name. Please do not let me be trapped by worldly and sinful activities. Help me to grow and mature in faith. Let my activities bring glory to your holy name from now on, and ever more! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
