Bible Giants Of Faith – Episode 1
The Bible tells us about some great men who have lived before us. Those we can call supermen, because of the type of mighty deeds they wrought. One of such men is Abraham, the friend of God.
The book Bible Giants of Faith, in its first chapter, relates to us the life of Abraham and his relationship with God.
Truly, Abraham was the friend of God. But he didn’t get to that stage by chance. At the time when he was 75 years old, God promised him that He would make him the father of nations.
Imagine, a man without a son received a promise that he would father nations. At 75, for that matter! He didn’t see how this was going to be possible due to his advancing age.
This is just one of the many ‘almost-impossible’ promises and instructions he received from God.
At a time, God appeared to him and asked him to leave his land for another land that He would show him, with a promise of a blessing.
Abraham believed God’s words and left his native land with his wife, Sarah, and his nephew, Lot.
Despite all these promises and instructions, things were not always well with Abraham.
He was also not seeing the promise of a blessing coming to pass in his life. The worst of Abraham’s problems was that he did not have a child.
He was a very old man, and Sarah, his wife, was old and past the childbearing stage.
In the book Bible Giants of Faith, we see that despite all the problems that the man Abraham faced, he never doubted God.
He continued to live with the trust that God would not fail him and would keep his promises.
Not too long, the promises of God started manifesting in his life.
God fulfilled His promise of a son to Abraham when he was one hundred years old, and Sarah, his wife, was ninety years old.
But then God came again with His test. He tested Abraham’s faith after the birth of Isaac; God asked him to sacrifice his trueborn heir, Isaac. Imagine that!
Abraham- Tested and Trusted!
After all the years Abraham had waited before he could have a son, God asked him to sacrifice the son.
Despite not knowing that it was a test, Abraham obeyed, without questioning God, and he passed the test.
For Abraham’s numerous obedience, not just that God promised him innumerable blessings, they all came to pass.
He told him that just as it was impossible for anyone to be able to count the stars in the sky, so would it be impossible for anyone to count his descendants.
This is exactly the way God wants us to have total faith in Him. And as we do this, His numerous promises will be ours to enjoy.
