Bible Giants Of Faith – Episode 4

ruth

We started this series by discussing the great men and their marvelous feats in the bible. Men who showed great faith in God and were thus rewarded with uncommon blessings. So far we’ve been able to go through the lives of three different men (Abraham, Moses, and David).

The great deeds recorded in the bible were not achieved by men alone, women also had their own superb share of these acts. In this episode, we are going to discuss the life of Ruth.

The book Bible Giants of Faith discusses this great woman (Ruth), known for her loyalty and devotion.

The fourth chapter of the book “Bible Giants of Faith” relates that two Moabite women, Ruth and Orpah, married the two sons of Naomi after her husband, Elimelech died. But unfortunately, tragedy struck and Naomi’s two sons died.

After this, Naomi decided to return to Israel. She set out for Bethlehem in the company of her two daughters-in-law. But at a point on the journey, she urged her two daughters-in-law to return to their people for the possibility of starting a new life. Mahlon returned to Moab, but Ruth refused to turn back.

Ruth said to Naomi,

“Do not urge me to leave you or to turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people will be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord do the same to me, and more also, if anything but death separates me from you” (Ruth 1:1-17).

Such loyalty! Even when she had no reason to continue with her, she pledged her life to Naomi. She arrived in Israel with Naomi; took care of Naomi in her old age, and later remarried a man named Boaz based on Naomi’s recommendation.

Ruth later gave birth to a boy named Obed, who also became the grandfather of King David, the great ancestor of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Can you see how loyalty and devotion turned a lowly woman from an unknown village to an ancestor of our Lord Jesus Christ?

People who claim to love God should prove it with practical actions.

We should not only be Christians through words, but we must complement our words with actions of faith. We must be ready to go out of our way for God.

Even when the grass does not look green, we should still consider it a matter of importance to meet God’s standard.

I hope we all learned a lesson from this episode?

Continue with us in the next episode as we unveil more great deeds from the giants of old.
