Bible Giants Of Faith – Episode 2
In our previous post, we discussed one of the giants of faith in the Bible (Abraham). In this episode, we shall discuss another faith giant as portrayed in the second chapter of the book, Bible Giants of Faith.
Moses, a man reputed as the meekest on earth, was the man who led the Israelites out of the land of captivity.
Moses was born at a time where King Pharaoh was on a killing spree of Hebrew male children, in a bid to weaken the Hebrew’s stronghold.
But the boy, Moses survived because of his mother’s wisdom. He escaped death, grew up in Egypt and even enjoyed some royal benefits.
The book, Bible Giants of Faith shows us an incident where Moses killed an Egyptian boy for abusing a Hebrew boy. This made him run away from Egypt, fearing that Pharaoh might kill him. He went on to become a shepherd in the land of Midian.
Not too long, God came calling him from the wilderness, telling him to return to Egypt in order to lead His people out of bondage.
But Moses remembered what made him run away from Egypt. He gave God so many excuses in a bid to avoid going back to Egypt. He even told God that he was a stammerer as if God didn’t know this.
However, God insisted that Moses was the man for the job. Therefore, Moses obeyed. He returned to Egypt and confronted King Pharaoh, who refused to let go of the Hebrews.
The Freedom of The Bond
God caused the Egyptians to experience some plagues which include the death of all Egyptians’ firstborn. These events forced Pharaoh to surrender to God. He opened his border and released the Hebrews. However, the brutal king Pharaoh soon changed his mind and pursued the Israelites to the edge of the Red Sea.
The second chapter of the book, Bible Giants of Faith shows us how God instructed Moses to point his rod at the sea, and the sea parted. All the Israelites successfully walked on dry land in the middle of the Red Sea.
The stubborn king Pharaoh led his soldiers in pursuit of the Israelites to the middle of the Red Sea. God instructed Moses again to point his rod to the sea to release the water after the Israelites had escaped to the dry land.
The Red Sea closed up on all the Egyptians, and they all perished with their mad king.
After the Red Sea experience, Moses led the Israelites in the wilderness en route to the Promised Land. During his journey to the promised land, Moses performed many miracles through the empowerment of God. He made manna (free food) rain down from heaven. He struck a rock and freshwater gushed out when the Israelites were thirsty. He also crafted the Ten Commandments.
Moses obeyed God and trust in His word without fearing for his life. This is the same way all Christians must trust God’s words.
If God said it, then we must believe it!
Moses believed every word that God told him, and he was willing to face death for the sake of obeying God. This is the same way God wants us to obey Him and believe His words.
