Call God To Help You Make A Good Decision
It is very hard to make a sound judgment under pressure, but with God, all things are possible. God can guide us to make an appropriate decision under pressure if we call on him for help.
Despite the temptation a person may face making an irrational decision under pressure, he is still obliged to make a sound judgment that honors God.
God answers us when we call on him for help!
Someone in the Bible lost control of making a sound judgment when he was under pressure; he paid a dire consequence for it.
Let’s learn from King Saul in the Bible:
After he had committed several offenses to God, King Saul found himself between a rock and a hard place as he faced a much bigger problem. He was confronted with an army that was stronger than his troop.
Facing countless enemy soldiers with their sophisticated equipment, King Saul had no place to turn. In addition to his mystery, Saul’s spiritual adviser, Prophet Samuel, was nowhere to be found. He had delayed his coming to offer a customary sacrifice that must precede any war.
Enemies were advancing; Samuel was not forthcoming. Saul’s soldiers began to flee.
Since the pressure was mounting as a result of the enemies’ advances and Samuel missing in action for seven days already, King Saul was forced to make a decision. But, unfortunately, the choice did not favor him.
King Saul decided to perform Samuel’s duty. He offered a priest’s sacrifice.
Guess what, Samuel showed up immediately Saul had finished the sacrifice!
Despite any rational reasoning to validate Saul’s needful action at a crucial time, God was still displeased. Samuel said (on God’s behalf) to Saul:
“You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you” (1 Samuel 13:13-14).
God Is Always Ready To Answer Our Call
God is not far from us. He will be there to help us in times of need. But, children of God must be disciplined to wait on God at all times. Believers must not have any substitute for God. Our hearts must solely rely on God always!
A temptation is bound to come, but no temptation can take us beyond the limit of God’s grace. In other words, the grace of God is always sufficient for us!
God’s grace covers all things. It takes God’s grace and God’s favor to successfully overcome any temptation, especially when the pressure is mounting.
God will surely help his children that call on him for help. He will help us to make an appropriate decision when will need it.
Take-home lesson:
Learn how to call on God in every situation.
- Consider that nothing is insignificant to pray about.
- Don’t second-guess God, believe he will answer your prayer.
Pray For Grace To Always Call On God
Dear God, please give me the grace to call upon you whenever I am confronted with a difficult situation. Guide me to make good and godly decisions when I am confused. Help me to follow your instructions, so that I can have an expected result. Let it be well with me always, and let Satan be ashamed over my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I have prayed. Amen.
