Spiritual Gifts Are Meant To Glorify God
Passage: 1 Corinthians 14
The gifts of prophecy and speaking with diverse tongues are expected to be utilized for edifying the body of Christ. Paul admonished the Corinthian brethren to be decent with their religious practices and ensure that demonstration of their spiritual gifts benefit others, and promote God’s kingdom.
Paul said,
“Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:39-40).
Utilize God’s Gifts and Positively
The baptism of the Holy Spirit (impacted by God) comes with special gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). Those gifts are expected to solidify the body of Christ and also help Christians prosper in God’s kingdom. Therefore, believers are to ensure they become productive for God’s kingdom. Meanwhile, the gifts of the Holy Spirit can elevate a person into the limelight, and the fellow can be tempted to be proud; therefore, anyone who demonstrates a spiritual gift must be careful to operate in humility.
Any Christian who demonstrates a spiritual gift must ensure that God is glorified in whatever he or she does! The fellow must not arrogate God’s glory unto him or herself since Jehovah does not share his glory with anyone. In essence, every demonstration of the Holy Spirit’s gift must not focus on glorifying a man or woman – it must be focused on glorifying God!
Pray For Divine Help To Effectively Use Your Spiritual Gifts
Dear God, please help me to demonstrate gifts of the Holy Spirit in a manner that will glorify your name. Let your Holy Spirit operate in me with grace and power to benefit the church and your kingdom! Please keep me humble and do not let me arrogate your glory unto myself. Let me serve you with fear and trembling; let my services be acceptable in your sight at all times and let your name be praised forever. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
