True Christianity Celebrates Forgiveness And Love
(Luke 17: 3-4)
Jesus Christ challenged Christians to forgive offenses at all costs. Jesus said,
“If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him” (Luke 17:3-4).
Forgive Others As God Forgives Us
Forgiveness has a simple definition, which means, to pardon people who have wronged us. All people must learn from God who sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, so that he could forgive and save us. (God suffered hurt and disappointments from the sinful activities of humans, yet he sent his Son to die for us to save us from those sins).
God pardons our sins without asking for a penny in return; therefore, we should also forgive people who have offended us without asking for a price. God will definitely bless us, if we can reciprocate love for any sense of hurt and/or disappointment that we may have suffered from others.
Forgiveness is a vital part of being human and a Christian. Apart from the fact that we may not be able to correct those who are hurting us, forgiveness will helps us escape any pain incurred. Sure enough, the forgiving process can be difficult because some pains do hurt deeply, but we still need to forgive to properly heal. (Plus the fact that if God forgives us daily, who are we to not forgive anyone?)Click to tweet
Prayer For Holy Spirit Empowerment To Forgive Others
Dear God, please help me to forgive people who have wronged me. Help me to demonstrate a graceful heart towards them. An act of forgiveness can be challenging; therefore, I ask that you please empower me by the Holy Spirit to completely forgive others. Please help me to stay strong so that devil can be ashamed as I graciously forgive others! Give me the grace and power to operate in liberty through forgiveness. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
