REPRESENT WHAT YOU PREACH – Matthew

All Christians Must Be Good Representative of God And What He Stands For

(Passage: Matthew 23)

As Christians, we mustn’t just be hearers of the word of God only, but we must also be the doers. We must do our best to present ourselves to God as the approved ones – the workers who have no need to be ashamed and handle the word of God rightly.

Jesus Christ scolded the Pharisees for being inconsistent with the scripture. They taught and enforced the scriptures on other people, but themselves acted contrarily.

Jesus knew the Pharisees’ actions and rebuked them. He said,

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves” (Matthew 23:13-15).

God Blesses His Children Who Represent And Promote His Kingdom

Christians are required to be true representatives of Jesus Christ, and not live in pretense. We are commanded to meet God’s standard as presented in the Bible. We are to preach and teach other people to comply with the Bible, and we must practice what we preach as well.

In addition, Christian leaders must not be hypocrites but be true ambassadors of Jesus Christ.

God reserves his benefits for people who love and serve him with all honesty in his kingdom. He will reward honest Christians with glorious crowns that last forever.

Pray For God’s Help To Represent Him Well

Dear God, please make me a true representative of Jesus Christ, who lived according to biblical standards. Help me, to be honest in my relationship with you!

Please don’t let me live a double-standard lifestyle. Let my “yea be yea and my nay be nay” so that you can be proud of me.

Help me to exercise genuine repentance whenever I fall into sin. Please let me be holy and keep my feet firm within your gate. Please continue to keep me worthy of your gift of eternal life in heaven!

For in the name of Jesus Christ, I have prayed. Amen.
