Every Christian Parent Must Learn How To Show Their Kids Equal Love
Esau and Jacob were twin sons of Isaac and Rebekah. The children were gifted and made their contributions to the family as they knew best. Esau hunted animals for family dinner and Jacob rear family livestock (Jacob also helped his mother in the kitchen).
However, despite the uniqueness of the twins, their parents developed a selfish interest to satisfy their personal desires, while they failed to help the children maximize their potentials. Each parent developed bias affection and made a favorite out of the twins.
Isaac preferred Esau because he hunted games for family dinner, and Rebekah loved Jacob because he helped with domestication. Therefore, the children grew apart and rivalry erupted. The separation eventually degenerated into a bitter rage that made one brother wanted to kill the other.
The scripture stated, “
…Now Jacob cooked a stew, and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright” (Genesis 25:29:33) … “ But he (Isaac) said, “Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing” (Genesis 27:35)… “So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob” (Genesis 27:41-46).
Christian parents ought to be clever in dealing with their children to make them maximize their potentials. A wise and godly parent will not prefer one child to another since they are all gifts of God with special qualities. Every parent should be sensitive to the potential of his child and help him maximize it.
God is interested in making each child great; it is the work of the parents to help him meet the expectation. However, some unimaginable consequences amount when a parent fails his (or her) duty.
Satan can take an advantage of the situation to act against the child’s future. Hence, parents must safeguard their children’s future by being sensitive, prayerful, and impactful!
