Put God First To Make Your Blessing His Priority
(Passage: Matthew 22)
God will bless us if we can make the choice to prioritize his work. Blessings await you if you are committed to his service.
Do we have life pressure that can make serving God become the secondary focus? Absolutely. With pressure here and there, anyone would choose to prioritize other things than making God his topmost priority. But, none of those pressure can actually bail us out of our situations. Only God can. Only him blesses also!
Jesus Christ encouraged people to set things of God as their priority. God comes first, then ours become secondary.
When our hearts are far from God, we glue to the cares of the world. This, of course, is not good since it leads to the loss of blessings en route.
How can we understand when we are digressing from the goal of setting God as the priority of our lives? Jesus explained this with an illustration of one rich man in the Bible who was generous to his friends, but they took him for granted.
Jesus said;
“The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’ But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests” (Matthew 22:1-9).
Prioritizing Worldly Cares Can Make You Lose
Humans will always have needs. So, we can’t let those needs rule our world. We must choose to prioritize serving God. Above all needs, we must let the things of the Lord captivate our minds.
No joke with God. He expects us (his people) to handle all matters that are related to his kingdom seriously.
God wants people to put him first in their lives, and serve him well.
God wants us to rely on him so that he can handle our situations for us.
If you take care of God’s business, he will take care of yours.
This is no gimmick: Try to put God first in your life and see what happens after that!
Someone who has not prioritized the need to put God first in his life is more or less an idol worshipper. Remember the Ten Commandment? (Exodus 20). Those that made the top on the list are:
- I am the Lord thy God
- Thou shalt have no other gods before me
- Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image
No other way of stating the obvious: People who do not prioritize serving God will lose some benefits!
Let’s make life simple for ourselves. Let’s allow God to run the show for us by making him the first in our lives.
Prioritize servicing the Lord, and you won’t regret it.
Remember:
The Creator promised to bless us if we give one hundred percent attention to him and his courses. Jehovah will not honor people who prioritize the cares of the world above him.
Pray For The Strength To Set God As Priority
Dear God, I know you want me to put you first in my life. I am sorry for allowing the cares of the world to engulf my life. From now on, I will set you a priority in my life. I will serve and obey you. I will support your courses and promote your name. Please bless me as I make the effort to make you the best of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my request. Amen.
Remember: God’s Work Should Be Your Top Priority
