GOD’S PLANS ARE ALWAYS GOOD – 1 Samuel

God's plan

All Christians Must Put Their Ultimate Trust In God

(Passage: 1 Samuel 9)

Saul was committed to his family and was busy searching for his father’s missing horse, but God had a bigger plan for him. God instructed Prophet Samuel to anoint Saul and ordain him as the first king of Israel. The remarkable event unfolded thus,

“… Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying, “Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over my people Israel, that he may save my people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry has come to me.” So when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, “There he is, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall reign over my people.” “Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said: “Is it not because the Lord has anointed you commander over His inheritance?” (1 Samuel 9:15-17; 1 Samuel 10:1).

God Has Our Best Interests At Heart

God’s way is not always the same as ours; he may decide to surprise us in the way we least expected. No human being can contain God in a box, and we cannot limit him by our limited thoughts. God will do whatever he has determined to do, and nothing can change his plans. Meanwhile, God’s thoughts towards his children are always good. He stated,

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

However, God’s plans may not be fully fulfilled in our lives if we work contrarily to his commandments. We must follow God’s agenda, and we must satisfy him before we can enjoy his ultimate goodness. Therefore, every believer must endeavor to satisfy God so that he or she can enjoy his tremendous grace and goodness to the fullness.

Prayer For Grace To Trust God

Pray for empowerment to stay within God’s plan

Dear God, please help me to stay within your plans so that I can enjoy your grace and goodness in my life. Enable me with the strength to satisfy you always, and let me remain fit for your blessings. Please, remember all your promises over me and let them materialize fully. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
