Gospel Ministers Must Represent Christ Well
Passage: Titus 2
Gospel ministers are required to be good examples. They must teach and lead other people to properly serve God. They must be good stewards of Jesus Christ for other people to emulate. Apostle Paul instructed Titus to be a good steward of Christ as he instructed Titus,
“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you” (Titus 2:1-8).
Christians Have Obligations to Lead by Example
People who serve God in any capacity have an obligation to be godly examples. Every gospel minister must live a lifestyle that is suitable for other people to emulate. However, not only the church leaders are required to be good representatives of Jesus Christ. All Christians without an exception are charged to faithfully serve God and be good examples for the world to see!
Believers throughout the world must ensure to live in compliance with the laws of God that are stipulated in the Bible. We must not emulate any ungodly view, even if our society considers them as appropriate. Every Christian must consider it a priority to faithfully serve God in holiness.
Pray for the Ability to be True Representative of Jesus
Dear God, please help me to be your good steward in speech and in character. Help me to diligently study your word so that I can clearly understand your view in all matters. Empower me through the Holy Spirit to live up to your expectations, and let your light shine through me for the unbelievers to emulate. Please let my life become a living proof of your integrity in order to motivate unbelievers to serve you! For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
