Be Sensitive To Differentiate Between A True and False Teaching
(Passage: 1 John 4)
Every child of God must train himself (or herself) to be spiritually sensitive at all times. We must allow the leadership of the Holy Spirit in our lives to understand what the true gospel is. The Spirit of the Lord will also empower us to live by the truth of the word of God.
Hey, not all teachings out there are true; many lack validity in the word of God!
Fake teachers are out there to deceive those who are not sensitive in the word of God.
Any person who is not well-rooted in the word of God will fall victim to false teachings. Also, Christians who are not spiritually sensitive will derail from their faith.
Christianity is not to be merely practiced. It comes with discipline. That is, we must be firm and sensitive with our understanding of the word of God.
A Christian must not be naive to believe just any teaching that he or she hears.
It makes no sense to just believe anything that we hear “in the name of God” without confirming its validity in the Bible!
It is essential that we are sensitive to differentiate heresy from the true word of God.
The Bible warned,
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God:
Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.
And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world” (1 John 4:1-3).
Keep Your Fire of Faith Burning Rightly
The Bible has warned that a time will come that many people who are in faith will start to fall for false teachings. Many will be deceived.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
As a child of God, you have to guide your faith so that you won’t become a victim of false teachers, false prophets, fake pastors, and the like.
Our salvation received through faith in Jesus Christ is very precious, and we can’t afford to yield that to Satan. (Remember that Satan, the thief, is not willing to only steal. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy.)
Be firm as a Christian!
As a child of God, you must understand that Christianity is a firm religion that is consistent with God’s principle.
Christianity is a religion with a sound foundation. This means anyone who claims to be a Christian must know what he or she stands for.
Everyone must understand that Christianity (faith in Jesus Christ) is a religion established to satisfy God’s interest. As believers, we must hold firm to our faith in Jesus Christ without wavering.
What Must A Child of God Avoid To Escape False Teaching?
Avoid any teaching that lacks bases in the scripture. That is, you have the obligation to carefully evaluate any teaching that you receive – This can also come to you in the form of advice, preaching, or prophecy.
Be spiritually alert and ensure to reject whatever comes to you if it does not properly align with the word of God.
A Christian must reject any teaching that only entertains but lacks consistency with the Bible.
God’s principles taught in the Bible must remain our final authority.
Pray For Spiritual Sensitivity
Dear God, I understand there are so many misleading and unbiblical teachings out there. I don’t want to be a victim. Please help me to be spiritually sensitive to know what is right. Help me to engage in personal Bible study to achieve personal spiritual growth.
Please help me to hold firm to the faith. Give me the strength to faithfully serve you unto the end. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
Remember: A Christian Must Be Spiritually Sensitive
