Christians Must Pay Their Tithes To Their Churches

Passage: Malachi 3

God requires the believers to faithfully pay their tithe to his honor and for their own benefits. A Christian who faithfully pays his (or her) tithe put himself or herself in the best position to receive God’s blessing. However, beyond the blessings to receive by paying a tithe, the practice is also regarded as an act of obedience to God. People who fail the obligation to pay their tithes are sinning against God, Bible referenced those who fail to faithfully pay their tithes as thieves (since they deprive him of his entitlement).

The ten percent of your income belongs to God. You are obliged to pay it as a tithe to your local church. In fact, consider the tithe payment as equally important to God as the tax is important to the government.

Children of God must pay the ten percent of their income to God’s house to sustain his servants and promote the activities that promote his kingdom. The scripture warned people about tithe payment,

“Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed you?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it” (Malachi 3:8-10).

Tithe Payment Is God’s Requirement

Believers must understand that the requirement to pay their tithe (Ten percent of their income) is God’s commandment which is date back to the Bible time. God required all his children to meet this obligation for the purpose of replenishing his “storehouse.” That is, tithes are meant to suffice provision for the matter of God’s kingdom.

Any Christian who violates the requirement to pay his or her tithe to the local church is acting in disobedience to God’s law.

Christians must not be confused with heresy that many false teachers out there are disseminating. False teachers are claiming that the requirement of tithe payment only applies to the people of Old Testament era. Nothing can be further from the truth, believers in the New Testament (Christians) have the same obligation to pay their tithes also.

Everyone must fully understand that human’s opinion is different from God’s opinion; believers must obey God’s requirement to the letter to receive his abundant blessings.

Besides, believers must understand that God will bless us if we are faithful in our tithe payments. People who violate the tithe payment requirement will not only miss their benefits, but they will also receive God’s punishment. The Creator considers people who fail to pay their tithes as thieves, and he will award them some measurable punishments.

Believers who faithfully pay their tithes must understand that their due diligence is directed to the Lord, and not to any pastor, priest, or someone else. That is, a Christian should be less bothered about how the clergy is managing his or her tithes. God knows how to reward everyone for his or her action. Yours is to pay your tithe. Leave the rest for God to handle! He is able to adequately take care of his businesses. (God also knows how to properly handle anyone that mismanages his Kingdom’s fund.)

In addition, Christians’ obligation to pay their tithes to “God’s storehouse” must not be substituted for other services. That is, a Christian should prioritize paying his (or her) tithe to his local church. He should not consider any charity obligation that he has somewhere else as a substitute for tithe. Of course, Bible supports charity and other moral activities, but a Christian must just not substitute his tithe for it! In short, your tithe belongs to your local church.

Pray For Grace To Be Consistent With Your Giving

Dear God, please give me the power and grace to be faithful in my tithe payments. Help me to be faithful in paying the ten percent of my income to support my local church, as you required it. Do not let me be deceived by false teachers who are out there preaching the wrong doctrine and preparing people for eternal damnation. Please, do not let me get involved in “church politics!” Help me to be consistent in my relationship to you, and let my heart be completely devoted to serving you. As I make a serious effort to satisfy your desires, please bless me richly and keep me fit for your eternal kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
