A WOMAN WHO MOCKED DAVID REGRETTED HER ACTION – 2 Samuel

honor God

People To Honor God At All Times

(Passage: 2 Samuel 6)

A woman who mocked King David for dancing in the presence of God lived the rest of her life to regret her action. Michal, David’s wife, despised her husband when he danced before the Ark of God’s covenant. Michal scolded her husband for publicly dancing before God. To Michal, her speech was appropriate since David was her husband; however, God considered it as an insult hauled against his integrity! Therefore, Michal was barren for the rest of her life. The scripture reported Michal’s speech to David,

“…How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!” (2 Samuel 6:20).

Bible further reported,

“So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.” Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death” (2 Samuel 6:21-23 KJV).

Learn to Honor God and Respect His Servants

Honor God. God deserves to be respected by all people. God’s servants also deserve to be honored. Believers must be careful not to relate with God anyhow. We must not allow familiarity to cause us to sin against God. The fact that Jehovah remains loving and compassionate towards us does not mean that we can take him for granted! No Christian should think that he or she can second-guess God’s action if he or she abuses God’s grace. God cannot be second-guessed. His anger may erupt and it may surpass any human imagination.

Instead of testing God’s patience, believers have an obligation to faithfully serve him. We must respect God and faithfully serve him to receive his benefits (and avoid his wrath). The Creator will bless whoever makes him proud of his or her godly character.

Prayer For Grace to Honor God

Dear God, please give me the ability to faithfully serve you and honor you in whatever I do! Do not let me abuse your grace by taking you for granted. Also, do not let me dishonored your servants. Please guide my behaviors to always satisfy you so that I can receive your benefits in this life and in heaven also. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
