Understanding The Bible Study

The Bible is not like any other book out there. It gives its readers an interesting way to understand it. It doesn’t matter where you come from; your background does not matter either, the Lord’s message easily comes from the Bible to your heart. In fact, the Bible “is not hidden from you, neither is it far from you” – Deuteronomy 30:11.

The first thing you need to know in order to gain mastery of the Bible is that you must read it. Some can relate to this. But to others who have not developed this habit, it seems overwhelming.

Bible study is important! Some do not read the Bible at all. There are some who only read the snippets attached to daily devotions. These two types of people will never gain a deep understanding of the Bible. You only gain some knowledge of the Bible by covering much ground in scripture. 

Insight from Old and New Testaments

In your bible study, if you never study the Old Testament, you will never have a general knowledge of it. You won’t have a basic grasp of other sections of the Bible. This will render your untouched by the important truth laid out in the Old Testament.

Your ability to connect dots from various sections of the Bible will be limited. So you must combine the laws and truth of the Old Testament with the Epistles and Gospel of the New Testament in order to gain adequate knowledge of the Bible.

There are some that gain deep knowledge of the Bible without sitting under the tutelage of any skilled teacher. Meanwhile, for most people, they must sit some effective teachings from the Bible and be involved in time to time bible study.

Whatever works for you, you must understand that in order to gain a depth of knowledge, you must be active.

Bible study – Bible Memorization

Another means of having a depth of knowledge of the Bible is to memorize verses. You must understand that until you memorize verses deeply and spend time meditating on them, you do not possess the truth of the passages in your subconscious to influence your thoughts, actions, emotions, and attitudes.

Even when Jesus was tempted by the devil, he quoted scriptures in response to the temptation. When you know the scriptures enough to quote it immediately you’re faced with challenges, they begin to take hold of your life. 

Bible study – Bible Meditation

You must meditate on the scriptures enough for the truth to sink into the deepest part of your soul. The Bible admonishes us to do this day in day out. 

“This book of the law must not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” – Joshua 1:8

Bible verse for birthday can be motivating. Some encouraging verses to be added.
