People Must Prioritize Serving God
(Passage: Haggai 1,2)
Inappropriate priority brought set-back for Israelites. God called the attention of Israelites to the secrets behind their poverty.
Israelites were suffering because they have prioritized their personal interests above God’s interest.
Moreover, God challenged them to amend their ways so that they can prosper. God said,
“You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you!
…Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the Lord” (Haggai 1: 6-8 NLT).
Lesson On Christian Priority
Priority check!
Christians are not allowed to prioritize our personal interests above God’s interests. We must consider God’s interest to be primary – while our personal interests become secondary!
God is always challenged to help when people adequately prioritize their objectives. The blessings of God will forever abide by people who put God first in their lives.
Indeed God cares and he will bless whoever honors him with the lifestyle of righteousness!
He is Jehovah, and he knows how to create a situation that will bless his children who put him first in their lives.
Apostle Paul encouraged the Philippi Christians (as well as all other Christians throughout the world),
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).
Prayer To Be Responsible and Set God as Priority
Dear God, I ask that you please give me an ability to prioritize your desire above my any other interest. Help me to put you first in my life. Give me the grace to love and serve you with a pure heart so that I can prosper in all my ways.
…Empower me by the Holy Spirit to place a priority on holiness so that I can qualify for your eternal kingdom. Please do these things and many more, for in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
