Christians Must Not Take God’s Grace For Granted
(Jeremiah 25)
God’s grace has a limit! God declared his judgments on the people of Judah and Israel for abusing the privilege he earned them. The people of Judah and Israel took God for granted and persisted in their sins despite his warnings. God reminded the rebels of their failures and pronounced his punishment on them. God said,
“‘Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers forever and ever. Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’ Yet you have not listened to me,” says the Lord, “that you might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt. “Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Because you have not heard My words, behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ says the Lord, ‘and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations” (Jeremiah 25:5-9).
God’s Grace Has A Limit
God is merciful, but his mercy has a limit. Anyone who aims at taking God for granted may be playing a risky game since God cannot be predicted. Jehovah can decide to take an action when a person has least expected; therefore, it is better to appropriately behave before him.
Everyone has the choice to establish a consistent relationship with God and enjoy his benefits.
A person who makes the choice to build a steady relationship with God won’t regret it. Such person will be automatically positioned to earn God’s unlimited benefits.
A person who thinks he can play a dirty trick on God by offering him a lip service and keep a secret sin will regret in the end. Sooner or later, God will catch up with the person and severe him with some punishments. Besides, God has designated a special day to judge all the hypocrites and haul them to hellfire. Anyone who dilly dally in faith should not hesitate to repent and repair his or her relationship with God.
Pray To Stand Upright With God
Dear God, please do not let me abuse your grace in my life. Don’t let me take you for granted. Let the Holy Spirit empower me to honor you and obey your laws. Give me the grace to maintain a steady relationship with you in every day of my life. For in your name Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen!
