Believers Must Emulate The Humility of Christ
(Passage: Philippians 2)
God loves those who are humble but hates the proud. Indeed, humility is a virtue, and it comes with a lot of benefits. Every child of God must seriously pursue this attribute that honors God and brings us blessings.
Christians need to consider it A-must to naturally display humility at all times. We must follow the footsteps of Jesus to properly practice true humility, as the scripture emphasized,
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:5-11).
Jesus Was Humble and Was Rewarded By God
Jesus Christ is a good example of humility. Christ, the Son of God, had everything to enjoy in heaven, but at God’s request left the beauty of heaven to come to earth to save us.
Jesus who forsook the beauty of heaven and came here to save us displayed true humility. He humbled himself by all standards to become our Savior!
Being the third person in the trinity, Christ had everything to enjoy in heaven. He had the honor to remain in heaven as the LORD of Lords. He didn’t have to come to earth, but he did!
Christ shoved every excuse aside and responded to God’s call to save humanity. When God asked, “Who shall I send,” Christ responded, “Father send me!”
Jesus knew the suffering that would follow his obedience to God’s call; he had the choice to change his mind, but he insisted, “I will go!” (Revelation 5).
Since Christ, the Messiah, depicted true submission, God rewarded him with great honor. He gave him a special name that is higher than every other name, and through which any prayer requested would be answered – That is, through the name of Jesus Christ.
The scripture stated about Jesus,
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
Ask God For The Spirit Of Humility
Dear God, please make me a humble person so that I can be honored in your presence! Give me the grace to demonstrate true humility like your Son Jesus Christ, who left the pleasures of heaven to come on earth to save the sinners. Please let your Holy Spirit rule me so that I can faithfully serve you in all my ways. Also, please keep me humble when interacting with others, and in my daily activities. Let my ways be akin to Christ, and let my life glorify your name. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
