God Wants Everyone To Play A Role In His/Her Family
(Passage: 1 Peter 3)
Christians are called to be responsible for their families. Everyone in the family has a role to play. The scripture challenged Christians as written,
“Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct. Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening. Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered” (1 Peter 3:1-8 ESV).
God Blesses A Loving Family
Children of God must be responsible and care for the welfare of their family. We must ensure God is glorified in our homes. (1 Peter 3:1-8).
God surely promotes love between family members. He expects us to be kind towards one another. There is no exception to the rule of true love. Believers must love our fellow Christians as Christ loved and died for us all. More importantly, we must love people who are closer to us, which are our family members!
Believers may be indirectly responsible for the welfare of others, but we are directly responsible for the welfare of our family members! Our family deserves the first-class attention from us.
As Christians, we must genuinely express sincere love towards our family members. Husbands must love their wives; wives must love their husbands. Parents must love their children, and children must love and respect their parents. Any child of God who ignores the call to care for his (or her) family is simply not practicing the true Christianity! How can a Christian claim he loves God or other people while he has neglected his family? God definitely despises such practices!
God can only be pleased when a person who claims to love him is not hypocritical. Believers must love family members in a manner that glorifies God. However, it is understood that family members have differences and some families have complicated issues to resolve; however, we must not allow the differences to prevent us from effectively performing our roles.
Every child of God must make a significant effort to put the devil to shame in his (or her) family. We must demonstrate the true and thorough love of Jesus to glorify God.
Pray That True Love Starts From You
Dear God, please help me to express a genuine love for my family. Let me be your true ambassador in my home so that your name can be glorified. Again, I ask that you please make me a good and godly husband, wife, child, or grandchild. Help me to be a godly niece, nephew, and cousin, so that your gospel-light can shine in my family.
I am also asking that you please give me the strength to love my friends and neighbors. Let your light always shine around me to be your true ambassador on earth. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
