ABRAHAM; A FAITH GIANT

Bible Giants Of Faith – Episode 1

abraham

The Bible tells us about some great men who have lived before us. Those we can call supermen, because of the type of mighty deeds they wrought. One of such men is Abraham, the friend of God.

The book Bible Giants of Faith, in its first chapter, relates to us the life of Abraham and his relationship with God.

Truly, Abraham was the friend of God. But he didn’t get to that stage by chance. At the time when he was 75 years old, God promised him that He would make him the father of nations.

Imagine, a man without a son received a promise that he would father nations. At 75, for that matter! He didn’t see how this was going to be possible due to his advancing age.

This is just one of the many ‘almost-impossible’ promises and instructions he received from God.

At a time, God appeared to him and asked him to leave his land for another land that He would show him, with a promise of a blessing.

Abraham believed God’s words and left his native land with his wife, Sarah, and his nephew, Lot.

Despite all these promises and instructions, things were not always well with Abraham.

He was also not seeing the promise of a blessing coming to pass in his life. The worst of Abraham’s problems was that he did not have a child.

He was a very old man, and Sarah, his wife, was old and past the childbearing stage.

In the book Bible Giants of Faith, we see that despite all the problems that the man Abraham faced, he never doubted God.

He continued to live with the trust that God would not fail him and would keep his promises.

Not too long, the promises of God started manifesting in his life.

God fulfilled His promise of a son to Abraham when he was one hundred years old, and Sarah, his wife, was ninety years old.

But then God came again with His test. He tested Abraham’s faith after the birth of Isaac; God asked him to sacrifice his trueborn heir, Isaac. Imagine that!

Abraham- Tested and Trusted!

After all the years Abraham had waited before he could have a son, God asked him to sacrifice the son.

Despite not knowing that it was a test, Abraham obeyed, without questioning God, and he passed the test.

faith

For Abraham’s numerous obedience, not just that God promised him innumerable blessings, they all came to pass.

He told him that just as it was impossible for anyone to be able to count the stars in the sky, so would it be impossible for anyone to count his descendants.

This is exactly the way God wants us to have total faith in Him. And as we do this, His numerous promises will be ours to enjoy.

GOD HATES SIN; COVET HOLINESS AND STAY STRONG – Zechariah

sin

God’s Children Must Abstain From Sin And Focus On Righteousness

Passage: Zechariah 2

God withdrew his defense from the Israelites because they refused to repent from their sins.

However, the Creator promised to reinstate his relationship with them if they repent.

Jehovah promised to forgive the Israelites’ sin and punish their oppressors should they consider repentance.

God promised to severely deal with enemy nations that took advantage of the Israelites’ negative circumstances.

God stated through his prophet,

“For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely I will shake my hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants.

…Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me. “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become my people.

…And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

…Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!” (Zechariah 2:8-16).

Sin Is Awful; God Forgives Genuine Repentant Sinners

God is tough on sin; he does not condone it and would punish whoever refuses to repent from his or her sins.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Jehovah, who is caring and forgiving, will forgive any offense that is committed should an act of repentance be exercised.

Our gracious God will kindly deal with anyone who repents of his sins and seeks his forgiveness.

That is, a person who is humble enough to say “sorry” for his mistakes will obtain God’s mercy and be forgiven.

No sin is too big for God to forgive. He will forgive our iniquities no matter the magnitude. The only condition he asks is repentance!

People who repent from their sins will enjoy their benefits. He will give them his salvation and write their names in his Book of Life.

Jehovah will watch over repentant sinners and satisfy them with many benefits. However, everyone must understand that God does not entertain casual repentance.

No playing games with God, he wants a repentant sinner to be serious before him.

Jehovah does not want us to indulge in any sin that we have repented of.

God wants us to build a steady relationship with him so that he can continue to bless us.

It is, therefore, important that all God’s children (who have repented from their sins) maintain an honest and consistent relationship with God.

Children of God must be diligent and serve him with full devotion so that we can prosper!

Anyone who has not reached the state of repentance of sin should not hesitate; he needs to take an action, since much benefits would be derived in the process.

Anyone whom God’s Spirit convicts of sin should humbly submit to God and say “sorry.”

A repentant sinner should declare Jesus Christ as Lord, because through him alone can forgiveness and salvation be obtained.

There is much joy to obtain from Jesus Christ. He is the author of life, and he will give it to whoever comes to him with a humble heart.

Believe in Jesus Christ. Confess your sins in his name to obtain forgiveness and salvation, which means that you will obtain the gift of eternal life.

repentant

Pray For Forgiveness Of Sin

Dear God, I dedicate my complete life to you today. I am sorry for my sins, and I repent from them. I promise to start living a new life of holiness before you.

…I declare your Son Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, and I promise to serve him throughout the days of my life. Please write my name in your Book of Life, and keep me worthy of your eternal kingdom.

…For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests.

Amen.

Remember: God Hates Sin; Covet Holiness and Stay Strong

Dear God, please help me to love you dearly and help me to obey your instructions so that I can prosper. Let serving you be a convenient task for me!

…Give me the grace to resist the temptation of disobedience. Please, don’t let Satan take advantage of me; let the Holy Spirit empower and guide me so that I can prosper in every aspect of my life and also qualify for your kingdom.

For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests.

Amen.

CHRISTIANITY DEMANDS ABSOLUTE FOCUS ON GOD – 2 Peter

focus

Christians Must Remain Focused In Their Religious Acts

Passage: 2 Peter 1

Christians are called to live uprightly with God and shun pretense. Many struggle with so many things, while being weighed down by life’s trials.

If you would just focus on God, you would understand that these are just so little compared to the Almighty God we serve.

All He wants is that you make Him your point of focus and rely solely on Him. We must keep a genuine relationship with Him at all times. The scripture stated,

“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love…

…For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5-8).

brotherly kindness

God’s Blessings For Focused Christians Are Unlimited

Believers must have focus and cautiously practice their faith to remain worthy of God’s benefits.

The Creator reserves his eternal benefits for those who portray godly virtues.

The virtues that we must display include, but are not limited to self-control, perseverance, kindness, and love. Christians must be loyal to God and represent him well on earth.

Our practices must promote God’s name and bear good fruits of his kingdom.

Anyone who represents God well on earth with his or her godly practices will receive his blessing beyond human imaginations.

grace prayer

Pray For God’s Perfect Grace To Focus

Dear God, please help me to live a life that is relevant to your kingdom. Help me to bear positive fruits of your kingdom…

…Please give me the grace to demonstrate a godly virtue that will showcase your glory in all ramifications. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

THE GOSPEL IS MEANT FOR EVERYONE – Psalm

gospel

All Christians Must Preach The Gospel So It Can Get To All Corners Of The World

Passage: Psalm 71

Christians have been given the mandate to proclaim the faithfulness of God to the ends of the earth.

Jesus told us to go into the world and preach the gospel to all creations, to make disciples of all nations.

He wants the good news of the kingdom to be proclaimed throughout the world, as a testimony to all the nations.

We must acknowledge the supreme power of God as one of the psalmists committed to doing in the Bible. He stated,

“I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of your righteousness, of yours only. O God, You have taught me from my youth; and to this day I declare your wondrous works…

…Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come” (Psalm 71:16-18).

evangelization

Gospel Evangelization Step By Step Process

Every Christian has the primary assignment to proclaim and promote the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people.

Believers must spread the good news of Jesus Christ with the use of any medium available.

We must effectively preach Christ’s gospel to the extent that unbelievers will be convinced to change their minds and serve God.

Proclaiming faith in Christ is not a difficult task to perform.

Each Christian is to share his or her faith in any straightforward manner he could.

A believer can start with his or her family, before proceeding to extend the effort to other people.

A Christian who faithfully serves God will be honored in the presence of God in heaven.

Pray For Grace & Power To Promote God’s Gospel

Dear God, thank you for saving my soul! I understand that I am commissioned to go out and preach your gospel to all people…

…Please give me your grace and power to do so effectively! Help me to proclaim your gospel to other people so that they can be saved…

…Please empower me through your Holy Spirit to bear fruits for your kingdom at all times! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

EVIL DOCTRINE INCURS GOD’S WRATH – 1 Kings

doctrine

Understand The Difference Between Right & Wrong Doctrines

Passage: 1 Kings 13

A human being is born with a conscience and an innate sense of right and wrong. As Christians, we must be able to discern between good and bad doctrine.

Children of God must know when to flee so that we don’t fall into temptation.

Children of God must not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God or not.

Many false doctrines are out there in the world; Christians must be watchful of them!

During the Bible time, the Land of Israel that once operated as one nation during Solomon’s rule disintegrated into two nations of sinners.

They chose not to give God his deserved attention.

The people of Israel and Judah (the two new nations) operated wickedly. They turned to idol worships – a practice that God forbade.

The scripture reported,

“Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but again, he made priests from every class of people in the high places; whoever wished, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places” (1 Kings 13:33)…

…Also, “Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done” (1 Kings 14:22).

consequence

People Who Promote Wrong Doctrine Will Be The Consequence

God will punish a leader who distracts the attention of God’s people (from their commitment to serving the true God).

A leader of any capacity is expected to have the fear of God and be considerate. He or she ought to promote the doctrine that honors God.

Leaders should neither be obsessed nor self-serving; rather, they should utilize their influence to benefit people. They should also encourage the people they lead to be godly in their practices.

It is the responsibility of the followers to evaluate any instruction they receive and ensure it complies with the laws of God.

Both the leaders and followers of any country and/or establishment are mandated to satisfy God in whatever they do.

God will not entertain an excuse that anyone uses to justify an act of wickedness.

Pray For Divine Grace To Shun Evil Doctrine But Serve God

Dear God, please help me to manage my position in a fashion that will glorify you. Help me to care for people and have your fear in my heart.

Let me lead by example, and let me motivate people to behave well and please you in their endeavors.

Do not let me be carried away with any honor that is associated with my position and sin against you. Help me to serve you well.

Let my leadership style benefit everyone under my command. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

THE REFLECTION OF GOD’S LOVE FOR THE JEWS – Romans

jews

The Jews Who Accept and Confess Jesus Will Be Saved

Passage: Romans 11

Jews who have refused to confess Jesus Christ as their messiah will still do so someday. They will have salvation opportunity and be saved. (The Bible states that whosoever confesses Jesus Christ as Lord will be saved.)

The Jews’ initial rejection of Jesus Christ as the true messiah has given the salvation opportunity for the unbelievers. The Jews’ hostility has also contributed to the expansion of the gospel. They persecuted the early Christians and forced many of them to escape from Jerusalem and other cities.

Many of the persecuted Christians went far beyond their homeland to preach the gospel of Jesus to the gentiles.

The non-Jews have received the opportunity to hear the gospel and hear more about God. Indeed gospel evangelization to the unreached world has led to the salvation of many souls!

Meanwhile, the Jews who have warred against Christian faith will receive the opportunity of salvation. They will see the light of God; confess Jesus as Lord, and be saved.

Paul, a born-Jew converted to Christianity, stated,

“If by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? For if the first fruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches…

…And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you…

…You will say then, “Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.” Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either” (Romans 11: 14-21).

Acceptance Of Jesus Christ Is The Criteria To Make Heaven

God loves the Jews; he raised them from a few people and turned them into a great nation. However, the Jews are not only God’s children, but Christians are his children also.

Both the Jews and Christians are like branches of the same tree grafted to God. However, the Jews cannot survive in isolation, they need the salvation of Jesus Christ to properly offer acceptable service to God.

The scripture stated that God would not give up on Israel, but he would enlighten their mind to accept Jesus Christ as the true Messiah of God (Yeshua Ha-Mashiach).

With faith in Jesus Christ, both Jews and Christians will partake in the Lord’s Passover in heaven.

Hence, since Jesus Christ is so important to salvation, everyone, Jews and non-Jews should consider it necessary to believe in him.

acceptance

Pray For The Non-Believers & the Jews

Dear God, I pray for Jews and all people who have not believed Jesus Christ as the true Messiah to do so. Please enlighten their minds to understand the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on their behalf. Let them understand that Jesus Christ died and resurrected to give them eternal life so that they can inherit your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

GOD BLESSES HIS DEVOTED CHILDREN ABUNDANTLY – Job

devoted

God’s Blessing Are Upon Those Who Are Devoted To Him

Passage: Job 1

Job (in the bible) was a rich man that could be referred to as a billionaire of his time. The man disallowed riches to blindfold him. He was devoted in his service to God. Even in the face of adversity, he was fervent in serving God.

The Bible described Job as a faithful man who loved God wholeheartedly and served him with the best of his ability.

The Bible made the following declaration about Job:

“There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.

…Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.

…And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all.

…For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly” (Job 1:1-5).

humility

It Takes Humility To Serve God In Wealth

Children of God can be rich and still serve God devotedly. We can follow the story of Job, as an example (Job 1:1-5) who served God faithfully with his riches.

Moreover, it takes humility for someone to faithfully serve God with riches. The person must place God above his own personal interests.

In other words, a Christian who desires riches ought to first question himself or herself on the subject of trust.

He ought to be able to ask, “Can God, trust me if I am rich?” God will surely bless anyone who is determined to serve him with a devoted heart.

faithful

Pray For Divine Assistance To Faithfully Devoted and Serve God

Dear God, please make me a trustworthy Christian who is neither selfish nor obsessed with riches. Give me a heart that considers you first and prioritize serving you above my personal interest.

…Help me to serve you with a pure heart so that I can have the opportunity to enjoy your riches for a long time. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

GOD OF POSSIBILITY MAKES ALL THINGS PERFECT – Ezekiel

possibility

Power of Possibility Lies with God

Passage: Ezekiel 37

Jehovah is a God of possibility. He can do all things, and he will make dry bones come to life for his children.

Yes, dry bones shall rise again for God’s children.

God spoke to Prophet Ezekiel and said that the Israelites (who have lost their godly virtues and were dead in their spiritual lives) shall be restored to have a good standing with him.

Ezekiel recounted his experience with God,

“And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin, and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”

So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them.

Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”’

” So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army” (Ezekiel 37:3-10).

possible

God Is An Everlasting Guardian

God is a God of possibility. He makes dry bones come to life for his children that trust him.

People of faith may experience temporal trials, but they will be relieved and have victory.

God’s children will be delivered from their troubles to praise God.

Indeed, Jehovah will rise like a mighty warrior to defend the interest of his people. He will help them overcome their limitations.

Dry bones may represent various kinds of problems that God’s children experience.

They may be spiritual dryness, unfavorable medical report, or any other negative condition.

Those conditions that seem impossible will submit to the God of all possibilities.

The Creator will deliver his children from their terrible situations.

He will give His angels charge to watch over them as the scripture states,

“The angel of the Lord encamp all around those who fear Him, and delivers them” (Psalm 34:7).

faith prayer

Proclaim God’s Promises; God of Possibility Is Able

Dear God, I believe in your victory and power to help me overcome my terrible situations. I believe your promises of the scripture that states, “the dry bones shall come to live” for people who reserve their trust in you…

…Please let me start to experience your healing, deliverance, and restoration in every area of my life. Enable me with the power of your Holy Spirit to live in victory every day of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

GOD SEES RIGHTEOUSNESS IN OUR HEARTS – 1 Chronicles

righteous

Christians Must Endeavor To Be Righteous

Passage: 1 Chronicles 28

God’s word and His wisdom are diffused with righteous. Righteousness brings blessings, peace, joy. It’s a law His kingdom. Being righteous is a huge blessing opportunity. It does not affect just us, but the people around us, the society we live in. It comes with incredible benefits. King David shared the secret of his success with his son Solomon and said,

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever” (1 Chronicles 28:9).

reward

God Rewards Only Those Who Live Righteously

Our secret intentions may be hidden from fellow human beings, but they are definitely not hidden from God. Our creator weighs every human intention, and he awards measurable rewards for our actions.

Therefore, since God cannot be deceived, we Christians should offer our best services to God at all times.

We should avoid being involved in “eye-service” and willingly commit our lives to serving God faithfully. We must always serve God in all righteousness.

Pray For Grace To Serve God Genuinely

Dear God, I understand that I cannot deceive you with pretense and eye-service. I also acknowledge the fact that you will bless me if I faithfully serve you. Therefore, I ask that you give me the grace to commit my total heart to serving you. Please let me qualify for your blessing. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

WORRY NOT, GOD IS ALL-SUFFICIENT! – Matthew

Worry

Christians Must Do Away With Worry

Passage: Matthew 6

Jesus instructed his followers to not worry about anything, but they should have confidence in God. He told them to look at the birds in the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet the heavenly Father feeds them.

Believers must be joyous and hopeful at all times. We must have an expectation that the promises of God in our lives will come to pass. Jesus said,

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:25-34).

faith

Absolute Trust In God Facilitates God’s Protection

People who serve God must not be anxious about anything, but we must be hopeful in God. Believers must be confident that God is ever strong to help us overcome any challenge and lead us to victory.

Christians must understand that Satan outsources scary situations to challenge our faith. His goal is to make us doubt God and stumble in faith. No Christian should give in to worrying.

We must be full of faith and have high expectations. As we demonstrate unwavering faith, God will turn our trials into testimonies, and he will also make Satan be ashamed. Indeed, God will compensate our faith and turn it to testimonies!

prayer

Pray Not To Worry But Show Absolute Faith

Dear God, please help me to demonstrate unwavering faith in you. Help me to stop worrying about life challenges. Help me to realize that you are in charge of my life, and you will perfect whatever concerns me! As I continue to trust you, let my terrible situation turn around to a good one, and let me have the story of your goodness to share with other believers and the rest of the world. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
