GOD’S WRATH AGAINST EVIL DOERS IS INEVITABLE – Psalm

evil

Children of God Must Stay Away From Evil Acts

(Chapter: Psalm 78)

God expects his children to be dead to sin and no longer live in it. Believers are indeed called to freedom, which must not be supplemented with evil practices.

Some children of God, in the Bible, could not stop to abuse their God-given freedom; it boomeranged!

Despite the blessings that Israelites have received from their Maker, they remained ungrateful as they continue to entertain evil practices.

God was offended and punished his ungrateful children. A psalmist studied the whole scenario and lamented:

“… Yet He had commanded the clouds above, and opened the doors of heaven, had rained down manna on them to eat, and given them of the bread of heaven. Men ate angels’ food; He sent them food to the full.

He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens; and by His power He brought in the south wind. He also rained meat on them like the dust, Feathered fowl like the sand of the seas; And He let them fall in the midst of their camp, All around their dwellings.

So they ate and were well filled, For He gave them their own desire” (Psalm 78:23-29).

The psalmist exclaimed:

“How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, and grieved Him in the desert! Yes, again and again, they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

They did not remember His power: The day when He redeemed them from the enemy, When He worked His signs in Egypt, And His wonders in the field of Zoan” (Psalm 78:40-43).

God despised the Israelites for their persistent sinful actions as the psalmist explained;

“For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.

When God heard this, He was furious, and greatly abhorred Israel, So that He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men, and delivered His strength into captivity, And His glory into the enemy’s hand. He also gave His people over to the sword, and was furious with His inheritance.

The fire consumed their young men, and their maidens were not given in marriage. Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.

Of course, God forgave and restored those who repented!

Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a mighty man who shouts because of wine. And He beat back His enemies; He put them to a perpetual reproach. (Psalm 78:58-66).

Evil Doers Will Pay A Price For Their Actions

Evil has consequences; people who engage in it will, sooner or later, pay for it.

Despite the fact that God has an enduring grace and mercy over humanity, he will still not tolerate persistent and unrepented evil acts.

Anyone who persists in evil will eventually regret his or her action and pay a heavy price for it.

God will extend his grace of repentance and forgiveness to sinners, but not for an indefinite period. At his own set time, he will punish anyone who refuses to repent.

Note:

God’s punishments are not predictable. He also knows how best to correct anyone to his satisfaction.

It is advantageous to honor God and receive his blessing than to receive his punishment.

Evil people should change from their wickedness; unrepentant sinners should turn a new leaf to receive God’s favor and blessing.

Pray For God’s Strength to Avoid Evil Practices

Dear God, I prefer to receive your benefits than your punishments. I have made up my mind to honor you and be devoted to you. I will not practice wickedness, and neither will I support wicked people.

My choice is to remain faithful and serve you unto the end so that I can receive your benefits in this life and in heaven.

Please empower me with your Holy Spirit to do things that are right so that I can be blessed by you at all times. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

CHRISTIANS MUST BE PIOUS TO GOD – 1 JOHN

devoted

Believers Must Be Devoted to God

(Passage: 1 John)

Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He is the savior of the world. Through him shall all people receive the forgiveness of their sins and be saved. Unrepentant sinners should not hesitate to repent of their sins and confess Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Also, people who have accepted Christ as their Savior must be devoted. They must ensure not to abuse their salvation privilege. Believers must satisfy God with a holiness lifestyle.

The word of God states,

“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us” (1 John 1:5-10 ESV).

God Desires A Complete Devotion From Everyone

All people must submit to the feet of Jesus Christ and be saved. It is important that Christians relate to God with honesty. We must be faithful to our Master! We must confess our misdeed to him and repent. Our repentance must be genuine before God.

In addition, believers must be humble before God and diligently serve him with the beauty of his holiness. In other words, we must be completely devoted to God. We must daily seek God through prayers and praises. More importantly, we must allow the indwelling spirit of God (Holy Spirit) empower us to satisfy God in all ramifications.

A Christian must not be arrogant in his/her dealings with God. The Creator will distance himself from us if we are arrogant or self-righteous!

KING MANASSEH’S REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS – 2 Chronicles

repentance

God Demands Repentance From Sinners

(Passage: 2 Chronicles 33)

Repentance of sin is not an option; it is the only important step that a sinner must take to appease God. King Manasseh of Judah devoted all his resources to idol worship when he ought to obey God and serve him with all his strength and might. Manasseh was so obsessed with idolatry to an extent that he sacrificed his son to his choice idol! The ungodly king also sponsored other forbidden practices that included witchcraft, sorcery, and spiritism.

The scripture reported Manasseh’s practices,

“And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord. And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

…And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.

…So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel” (2 Chronicles 33:5-9).

God punished King Manasseh for his evil deed. He allowed his enemies to overpower him. They captured and transported him in chains to Babylon where he served as a slave. However, Manasseh later repented of his past misdeed and begged God for his forgiveness.

Manasseh exercised repentance as the Bible reported,

“Now when he was in affliction, he implored the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before God of his fathers” (2 Chronicles 33:12).

forgiveness

Important Lesson on Repentance

Sin is irritable to God; a sinner must exercise repentance to receive God’s forgiveness. He requires all sinners to repent of their sins to obtain his forgiveness. Jehovah will forgive any sinner who repents from his or her sin, irrespective of its magnitude! As far as God is concerned, there is no sin beyond his forgiveness.

God will redeem any life and make it more beautiful than any previous time if repentance from a sin can be exercised. That is, a sinner must first acknowledge his or her sin and repent of it prior to obtaining God’s forgiveness. The person must also turn a new leaf by complying with God’s laws.

Any sinners who turn to God to serve him faithfully will not regret his action. He will receive God’s grace to prosper in all his ways. In fact, the scripture stated,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
