Children Of God Must Be Spiritually Minded

(Passage: Matthew 22)

Anyone who intends to enjoy God’s benefits must operate in faith. You have to live by faith to satisfy God. Period!

What is faith, and why is faith matter to appease God?

  • The Bible states, “Faith is the substance of things that we hope for and the evidence of things we have not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
  • The Bible states, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).”

Indeed, it takes spiritual mindedness to understand God and serve him well. Normal human perception can not be adequate to understand God.

This lesson can be better understood by studying how the Sadducees sect operated in the Bible. They based their understanding of God on human knowledge, so they fell into gross error.

The Sadducees questioned Jesus on the subject of resurrection because they had the prenotion that it is not possible for a dead person to come to life again. (They doubted resurrection).

The Sadducees who already had their minds made up asked Jesus,

“If there is a resurrection, who would be the husband of a woman who had several previous marriages before she died?”

Jesus Christ corrected the skeptics and said,

“You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.

But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching” (Matthew 22:29-33).

To Understand God Requires A Spiritual Mind

Anyone who has the hope of enjoying God and his benefits must live by faith. You will be better off serving God by faith than to waste time questioning his power!

God appreciates people who operate in faith. He dislikes those who live in doubt. In fact, it is possible for someone to provoke God with doubt.

To operate in faith and enjoy God, a person must not always seek some natural means of explaining the matters of the Spirit. Why? Because “God is a Spirit, and those who serve him must do so in Spirit and in truth!” (John 4:24).

If you think about it, there’s no aspect of spirituality that will make perfect sense to a natural person, unless he or she delves into the realm of the spirit for proper understanding!

For example, an unbeliever may question the conception of Mary, the mother of Jesus. However, it takes a spiritual person to understand that it’s possible by the Holy Spirit.

Also, the matter of salvation is an inexplicable experience that takes a person with a spiritual mind to understand.

As a matter of fact, for anyone to enjoy God’s blessings on earth, and also, qualify for heaven, he must believe the Bible and allow the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) to rule him.

Pray To Be Led By The Spirit Of God

Dear God, please make me a spiritual person who lives by faith. Keep me humble to accept the teachings of the Bible and believe them. Help me to live by faith, so that I can enjoy your optimum blessings as your child! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

God's plan

All Christians Must Put Their Ultimate Trust In God

(Passage: 1 Samuel 9)

Saul was committed to his family and was busy searching for his father’s missing horse, but God had a bigger plan for him. God instructed Prophet Samuel to anoint Saul and ordain him as the first king of Israel. The remarkable event unfolded thus,

“… Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying, “Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over my people Israel, that he may save my people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry has come to me.” So when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, “There he is, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall reign over my people.” “Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said: “Is it not because the Lord has anointed you commander over His inheritance?” (1 Samuel 9:15-17; 1 Samuel 10:1).

God Has Our Best Interests At Heart

God’s way is not always the same as ours; he may decide to surprise us in the way we least expected. No human being can contain God in a box, and we cannot limit him by our limited thoughts. God will do whatever he has determined to do, and nothing can change his plans. Meanwhile, God’s thoughts towards his children are always good. He stated,

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

However, God’s plans may not be fully fulfilled in our lives if we work contrarily to his commandments. We must follow God’s agenda, and we must satisfy him before we can enjoy his ultimate goodness. Therefore, every believer must endeavor to satisfy God so that he or she can enjoy his tremendous grace and goodness to the fullness.

Prayer For Grace To Trust God

Pray for empowerment to stay within God’s plan

Dear God, please help me to stay within your plans so that I can enjoy your grace and goodness in my life. Enable me with the strength to satisfy you always, and let me remain fit for your blessings. Please, remember all your promises over me and let them materialize fully. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

Children of God Must Work Hard to Succeed

Passage: 2 Thessalonians 3

Paul encouraged the Thessalonians Christians not to be lazy people. They must work hard; be productive, and be responsible for their family and the society. Paul said,

“For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good” (2 Thessalonians 3:11-13).

Christians Must Be Industrious For God’s Honor

Christianity is a religion that promotes hard works. Children of God must understand that they have an obligation to work hard and provide for the members of their immediate family. On top of that, they have to be productive for their society!

A Christian must not mistake his religion activity as a substitute for caring for the members of his or her family.

A Christian parent or child has some important roles to play in the family. He or she must assume those roles.

A Christian who appropriately assumes his or her role in the family will honor God and also send a clear message to the unbelievers that we serve a disciplined God who blesses hard works.

hard work

Pray for God’s Grace and Strength to be Diligent

Dear God, please give me the grace to be a diligent Christian who takes care of his (or her) family. Make me someone that labors for the purpose of caring for my family members. Please let my good works make you proud and challenge others to be responsible for their homes. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
