LOVE MUST BE PARAMOUNT IN THE CHURCH – 1 Corinthians

true love

A True Believer Should Understand That Certain Practices Are Required From Him or Her

(Passage: 1 Corinthians 16)

A Christ-centered church must ensure its members practice true love. The church must pray together and care for one another. Paul wrote to the Corinthian church and said,

“The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you heartily in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. All the brethren greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. The salutation with my own hand—Paul’s. If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen” (1 Corinthians 16:19-24).

Work To Grow Your Church With Love As The Key Factor

The church of Jesus Christ was created for two major purposes; For brethren to offer corporate worships to God and minister to each others’ welfare. These two vital roles must be observed in every Christ-centered church. It is important that members of different churches understand the importance of a local fellowship. Believers must gather together to pray and exercise true love.

Members of different churches must not be “busybody”. A good church member must not engage in any practice that will negatively affect the growth of his/her church.

Every good Christian is expected to make sizable efforts to positively contribute to the growth of his/her church. God will reward anyone who contributes to the growth of the church. He will honor such a person in this life, and the one to come!

Make significant efforts to promote Christ-centered love in your church!

Pray to show a genuine love.

Prayer For Divine Assistance To Promote True Love

Dear God, please help our churches to practice true love so that your name can be glorified among the gentiles. Help all brethren to worship you together in spirit and truth. Also, help us to minister to each others’ needs in love. Let brothers and sisters in Christ make personal efforts that are necessary to keep the body of Christ together in unity. When the end comes, let every true believer converge at your feet in paradise to enjoy an endless fellowship with you. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

UNHOLY RICHES ARE THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL – Luke

riches

True Christians Should Avoid Unholy Means To Becoming Wealthy

(Passage: Luke 16)

Jesus Christ cautioned and warned his disciples not to be involved in unjust riches, but seek pure wealth that glorify God. Jesus said,

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Luke 16:10-13).

riches

Unholy Pursuit Of Wealth Goes Against God’s Will

The pursuit of clean riches is not evil, but the pursuit of unclean riches is evil. Hence, Christians must not pursue riches at the expense of holiness. As children of God, we must evaluate our ambitions, and we must ensure that God’s rules are not violated. We must also, strive to be involved in only careers that glorify God. It is important to note that God keeps records of our activities, and he will duly reward us in this life, and in heaven also.

Don’t be a hypocrite!

Prayer To Be Disciplined Against Unholy Riches

God gives grace to the needy; pray!

O my God, I want to be rich, but I do not want to go to hell fire! Help me pursue clean riches, and let me honor you with my resources. Let me utilize my riches to serve you and meet other people’s needs. Do not let me be punished, but let me be duly rewarded on earth and in heaven also. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

GOD IS SECOND TO NONE; SERVE HIM – Ezekiel

serve God

As Believers, We Must Put God First Before Anything

(Passage: Ezekiel 23)

God labeled the Israelites “The harlots” for practicing idolatry. The people would face some consequences for their actions unless they repent. Jehovah handpicked Prophet Ezekiel as a talking point and warned the Israelites,

“Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will stir up your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side” (Ezekiel 23:22 NIV).

faith

God Will Not Share His Position With Anyone

Christians are not allowed to serve two masters. We are required to serve God alone! No child of God should compare his/her Creator with any other deity. Jehovah is God, and He is the only deity that humanity must serve. Meanwhile, idol worship is not limited to bowing down to images only. An idol may appear in the form of material, money, people, and others. In fact, anything that takes the place of God in our heart is an idol!

A smartphone, laptop, and pocket-book may become an idol. If care is not taken, a person’s wife, husband, and/or a child can become an idol. Nothing must take over God’s position in our hearts.

Anyone who claims to be God’s child must ensure that he/she has an undivided attention when it comes to serving God. It is important to emphasize that history has proven that God detests idolatry more than any other form of sin. The Creator has gone an extra mile to prove his point in ancient times; He has wiped out nations and disowned his own children for the sake. He can do the worse again! Therefore, as Christians, we ought to fear God and give him due honor with full (and undistracted) Worship.

Prayer For Strength To Serve God

Dear God, please help me to give you an undivided attention, so that you can be happy with me always. Do not let me be trapped in idol worship of any form. Please forgive my past sins of idolatry; help me to stop whatever may be claiming rivalry with you in my life. Let me start to serve you with full devotion, so that you can be pleased to shower your grace and goodness on my life, now and always! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

HUMILITY AS A WAY OF LIFE – Luke

humility

All Christians Should Imbibe Humility As A Core Trait

(Passage: Luke 18)

Jesus Christ explained the real meaning of humility and said,

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 18:10-14).

respect

Benign Humility Radiates Through Actions

True humility is not proven with words, but with actions! All Christians are required to live in humility before God so that he can be pleased with us. Believers must consider others as important as we are, and we must treat them with respect. Also, Christians must not prejudice against others; we must offer people a sense of worth and make them feel important as God’s special creations.

It is also important, that we Christians, offer our petitions to God with respect. We should not pray with arrogance, but we must humbly tender our requests before him. God will surely grant our heart desires, and he will decorate us with his benefits.

Prayer For Grace To Be Humble

Dear God, please make me a humble person. Enable me with the strength to honor you in all my activities. Help me to respect other people as well. Give me the grace to give others a sense of worth. I also pray that you teach me how to humbly present the gospel to other people so that they can confess your Son Jesus Christ as their Lord and be saved. For in the name of your Son Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

GOD RESPECTS AN AGREEMENT – Judges

promise

True Believers Must Be Aware Of Their Promises

(Passage: Judges 11)

Judge Jephthah found himself between a rock and a hard place by making an irrevocable vow to God. He promised to offer an important sacrifice to God if he could help him overcome his enemies. Jephthah said,

“Whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the people of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord’s, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering” (Judges 11:31).

God answered Jephthah’s prayer, but lo and behold, it was her only child who came to welcome him to his door-post when he returned from the battle. He found himself in a situation that he had to give up her only daughter. (Please note: This type of sacrifice is no more relevant today!). The scripture reported,

“When Jephthah came to his house at Mizpah, there was his daughter, coming out to meet him with timbrels and dancing; and she was his only child. Besides her, he had neither son nor daughter. And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low! You are among those who trouble me! For I have given my word of the Lord, and I cannot go back on it.” So she said to him, “My father, if you have given your word to the Lord, do to me according to what has gone out of your mouth, because the Lord has avenged you of your enemies, the people of Ammon” (Judges 11:34-36).

Jephthah decided to honor his promise despite the magnitude.

Be Watchful; God Cannot Be Cheated

God deserves to be respected at all times. We must respect him, and we must keep our promises to him. Meanwhile, believers must understand that we cannot be rash in our promises to God. We must be careful not to make ambiguous promises when we are in the presence of God. We must weigh our words and consider their magnitudes – since God does not respect jokes! He will not hesitate to register our promises and ask for their fulfillment.

God will keep asking us for his rights (promise) until we fulfill them. Therefore, believers must be careful not to make empty promises to God.

God will bless anyone who duly fulfills his promises to him. He will ensure the person is blessed so that he or she can be motivated to keep the practice of honoring his/her promises.

Prayer For Grace To Fulfill All Promises

Dear God, please help me respect you through my words and actions. Let me fulfill my promises to you. Let the fulfillment of my promises open doors of opportunities in my life, and let me enjoy your goodness in the land of the living. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

SALVATION IS NOT INHERITED BUT EARNED – Luke

salvation

True Christianity Entails Faith In Jesus Christ

(Passage: Luke 13)

Jesus Christ emphasized that the door of his kingdom will not be open to just anyone who claims to be a Christian. The Savior has made it clear that not everyone who calls him, Lord would be allowed to enter heaven, except those who strive hard in their race to eternal life. Jesus said,

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last” (Luke 13:24-30).

Christianity Is A Personal Race

Salvation is easy to describe; It is a means of escape that Jesus Christ offered (with his life) To rescue sinners from the punishments of hell fire. However, a person can only be saved when he/she personally accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Hence, it must be conceived that salvation is personal; it cannot be inherited, and it cannot be obtained on behalf of others. An individual must personally confess Jesus Christ and accept him as Lord to be accepted into God’s kingdom.

It is possible for someone to regularly go to church and yet not be saved. No person is awarded salvation through Christian activities – everyone must personally confess his or her faith in Jesus Christ to be saved!

Prayer Of Faith In Jesus Christ

Dear Lord, I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son sent from heaven to save people from the devil; therefore, I profess my faith in him. I confess that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and he rose from the dead to give me eternal life. Hence, I accept him as my personal Lord and Savior. I also confess my sins, and I forsake them. I believe that I am now a born-again Christian, and I promise to faithfully serve God for the rest of my life. Amen.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND THE POWER OF GOD INVESTED – Judges

Trusting Your Own Strengths Can Help You Conquer Trials And Tribulations

(Passage: Judges 4)

Mrs. Deborah Lapidoth was a prophetess and an Israelites’ judge that did what other women did not do during the bible years. She encouraged Barak to mobilize a nationwide war against their oppressive neighboring country, and she also accompanied a fearful general to the battlefront. During this period, they were no match for their enemies, because they were few in numbers.

In fact, Barak, the army leader, confessed his skepticism and insisted not to launch any offense – except Prophetess Deborah accompanies him. Therefore to ensure the Israelites’ deliverance, Deborah acted against their tradition and accompanied Barak to war. The scriptures reported,

“Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go!” (Judges 4:8).

Deborah believed the power of God invested in her and went to war alongside Gideon to defend their nation, and they won the battle (Judges 4:23-24).

courage

Be Fully Aware Of The Strength That Lies Within

Believers must understand their positions as “unbeatable children of God!” We (Christians) have the Spirit of God residing in us, and we must consider ourselves to be unbeatable! We must understand that God’s presence is with us at all times, and his presence will remain with us in all situations. Meanwhile, God’s presence should not be considered recessive in believers lives. We must publicize his strength during difficult situations.

Also, we must stand up to defend his standard of righteousness when no one else would do. Of course, our pious efforts will provoke Satan the enemy to raise his ugly head, but whatever scenario he creates will yield God an opportunity to glorify his name. That is, God will appear during our challenging moments to prove himself strong. However, what else should be said? Should we say that God will fail people who stand up for his standard of righteousness? Absolutely not. Jehovah will surely defend his name in every situation to honor his children and glorify himself. Therefore, believers ought to maintain firm trust in God, and keep confessing his promises in every situation of life.

Prayer For Courage To Face Trials Of Any Form

Dear God, please give me the courage to faithfully declare your standard of righteousness at all times. Empower me through the Holy Spirit to stay focused, and keep flying your banner of righteousness by sharing your gospel. Give me a relentless faith that will not cave in for worldly and sinful pressure. Also, do not let my faith subside to accept defeat during challenges, but let me keep confessing your righteousness until I triumph to testify to your goodness. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

PATRIOTISM SHOULD BE THE WATCHWORD OF EVERY BELIEVER – Daniel

loyalty

True Christians Should Care For Their Earthly Home As Much As Their Heavenly

(Passage: Daniel 9)

Daniel researched the record in quest to avert the tribulation that has befallen his country. Based on this research, the Man of God realized a past prophecy that explained the future deliverance of Israel. Israelites that were held captive in Babylon would be released after a period of 70 years. They would return to rebuild their homeland, and they would live in peace again. Having uncovered the fact about the destiny of his people, Daniel began praying and fasting to remind God of his promises. The scripture reported;

“In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments” (Daniel 9:2-5 KJV)

…O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolation, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for your own sake, my God, for your city and your people are called by your name” (Daniel 9:18-19 NKJV).

Interceding For Your Country Can Attract Blessings

Children of God are expected to be patriotic to their respective country. Indeed heaven is our homeland, but we still live in this world; we must do our best to support the interest of our earthly home. We must pray for the peace of our country where we hold the right of citizenship. We must contribute our quota of efforts that will aid our society to be peaceful and habitable.

Christians must also make efforts to promote the unity and integrity of their society! Since we are God’s children, we must influence people around us to be responsible and create positive impact. The same God who has utilized the efforts of his children in time past to positively transform people’s destiny can do the same again. God will honor the efforts of his children again, and he will visit our lands!

Your loyalty won’t only benefit your country, it will also benefit God.

Prayer For Grace To Be More Patriotic

Dear God, please help me to be patriotic to my homeland. Give me the grace to make every necessary contribution within my capacity to help make my country strong and successful. Please, enable my fellow Christians to make positive contributions to their society, so that your name can be glorified among the people. Please remember our political leaders to properly govern us. Weed out selfishness and corruption from our government; let morality reign, so that the citizens of our land can enjoy their right benefits and live peacefully. Please do this and many more! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

SELFLESS LOVE TO MANKIND – Ruth

love

Christians Should Imbibe Selflessness As Part Of Their Personalities

Passage: Ruth 1

Ruth decided to stay with Naomi (her mother in law) After the death of her husband, despite the fact that Naomi was old and she had nothing good left to offer. Ruth ignored Naomi’s persuasions, and she refused to turn back to her native land. She insisted and said,

“Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me” (Ruth 1:16-17 NIV).

Selfless Service Should Be A Staple For Christians

Christians are required to demonstrate selfless love towards other people. We are not expected to seek selfish gains before we can offer assistance to people who are in need. God himself knows the best way to reward good services; he will reward his selfless children! Therefore, we must endeavor to open-heartedly serve other people, and do it diligently, so that God can bless us.

Pray For God To Fill Your Heart With Love That Extends To Others.

Dear God, please grant me enablement to demonstrate selfless love towards other people. Do not let me seek selfish gains, but help me to care with a liberal heart. I know that you will definitely bless me if I represent you well on earth, so help me please you. Let me be your true ambassador on earth, and let me qualify to receive your heavenly rewards. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

GOD’S REIGN IS FOREVER – Hebrews

christ

The Lord Was, Even Before Existence And It Shall Keep Being So

(Passage: Hebrew 1)

The scriptures revealed the Lordship identity of Jesus Christ: He was not an ordinary human being as some may have presumed. He was God in human form when he came to earth and he still retains the same identity today. It is written,

“But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.” And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; and they will all grow old like a garment; like a cloak you will fold them up, and they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will not fail” (Hebrews 1:8-12).

A Genuine Belief In Christ Equals A Reward Of Eternal Life

Jesus Christ is the foundation of faith and the rooftop of salvation. Also, he is the perfection of God’s love. He simplified God’s law and presented it to us in a more relatable form. The Savior laid a royal carpet for us to step on; hence, anyone who confesses him as the Son of God and accept him as his/her personal Savior will be saved!

People of all states should come humbly before Jesus Christ and accept him as Lord. Whoever comes to Jesus Christ will not regret, but will have everlasting life in heaven.
