GOD’S WORK SHOULD BE YOUR TOP PRIORITY – Matthew

priority

Put God First To Make Your Blessing His Priority

(Passage: Matthew 22)

God will bless us if we can make the choice to prioritize his work. Blessings await you if you are committed to his service.

Do we have life pressure that can make serving God become the secondary focus? Absolutely. With pressure here and there, anyone would choose to prioritize other things than making God his topmost priority. But, none of those pressure can actually bail us out of our situations. Only God can. Only him blesses also!

Jesus Christ encouraged people to set things of God as their priority. God comes first, then ours become secondary.

When our hearts are far from God, we glue to the cares of the world. This, of course, is not good since it leads to the loss of blessings en route.

How can we understand when we are digressing from the goal of setting God as the priority of our lives? Jesus explained this with an illustration of one rich man in the Bible who was generous to his friends, but they took him for granted.

Jesus said;

“The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’ But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests” (Matthew 22:1-9).

Prioritizing Worldly Cares Can Make You Lose

Humans will always have needs. So, we can’t let those needs rule our world. We must choose to prioritize serving God. Above all needs, we must let the things of the Lord captivate our minds.

No joke with God. He expects us (his people) to handle all matters that are related to his kingdom seriously.

God wants people to put him first in their lives, and serve him well.

God wants us to rely on him so that he can handle our situations for us.

If you take care of God’s business, he will take care of yours.

This is no gimmick: Try to put God first in your life and see what happens after that!

Someone who has not prioritized the need to put God first in his life is more or less an idol worshipper. Remember the Ten Commandment? (Exodus 20). Those that made the top on the list are:

  • I am the Lord thy God
  • Thou shalt have no other gods before me
  • Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image

No other way of stating the obvious: People who do not prioritize serving God will lose some benefits!

Let’s make life simple for ourselves. Let’s allow God to run the show for us by making him the first in our lives.

Prioritize servicing the Lord, and you won’t regret it.

Remember:

The Creator promised to bless us if we give one hundred percent attention to him and his courses. Jehovah will not honor people who prioritize the cares of the world above him.

Pray For The Strength To Set God As Priority

Dear God, I know you want me to put you first in my life. I am sorry for allowing the cares of the world to engulf my life. From now on, I will set you a priority in my life. I will serve and obey you. I will support your courses and promote your name. Please bless me as I make the effort to make you the best of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my request. Amen.

RENDERING HELP TO GOD’S SERVANT IS A BLESSING – 1 Kings

moses

Showing Love To God’s Servant Means A Lot

(Passage: 1 Kings 17)

People must understand that servants of God deserve our respect. God does not joke with issues that concern his servant.

God can go to any length to protect the interest of his children (for especially, those who have dedicated their lives for his service).

While God’s punishment will linger on people who abuse God’s servants, his blessings are bound to follow those who treat them nicely.

God blesses and protects those who honor his mantle bearers!

Let’s learn from the Bible.

One poor widow in the Bible understood the principle of blessings that are involved in taking care of God’s servants. She offered her hospitality at a difficult time for Prophet Elijah (God’s servant); she became blessed for her effort.

The widow who cared for Prophet Elisha was so poor to an extent that she had thought the food she has would be her last meal.  She saw a man of God in desperate need and decided to offer him the last meal.

God was thrilled, and he tremendously blessed the woman for her courage and the honor she showed towards his servant.

The scripture reported;

“So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.”

And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”

So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah” (1 Kings 17:10-16).

God’s Servants Get God’s Backing

It is a good thing to bless God’s servants because those who care to do so will receive the dynamic blessings of God.

Since God’s name is associated with his servants, and his presence is always with them, anyone who blesses them will be blessed.

However, anyone who attacks a servant of God would be severely punished.

Jehovah will definitely oppose a person that opposes any of his servants. He will fight for his servants whenever they are in danger because they deserve it. He loves them and always wants the best for them.

The Bible tells us we are all created in God’s image. This doesn’t only apply to the physical realm, but every aspect of life. Whatever you do for someone else, God takes account of it, because you have technically done it for him, and he will reward your efforts.

Ask God To Help You Treating His Servants Rightly

Dear God, I understand that you will bless me if I respect your servants, and you will punish me if I disrespect them. Therefore, I pray thee to please help me be cautious of my attitudes towards your servants. Let me respect and care for them. Use me to meet the needs of your ministers. Also, give me the grace to remember your servants in my prayers. Bless me as I positively relate with your servants on earth! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I have prayed! Amen.

ONE DISRESPECTFUL CHIEF PAID A DIRE CONSEQUENCE – 2 Kings

disrespect

People Must Honor God’s Servants

(Passage: 2 Kings 7)

One Israelite’s chief paid a dire consequence for being disrespectful to Prophet Elisha over his prophecy. A prolonged famine had plagued the land of Israel at the time, but Elisha showed up and prophesied that God would avert the terrible situation overnight. The chief who heard the prophecy mocked the man of God (Elisha); however, the aftermath was not funny. Elisha uttered a statement that reshaped everyone’s thinking as he furthered stated that the man who mocked his prophecy would die for his behavior. The Bible reported Elisha’s prophecy, the chief’s response, and the aftermath consequence.

“Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’” So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.” (2 Kings 7:1-2).

Christians To Honor Their Pastors

Christians have an obligation to honor the servants of God, for especially those who labor over their souls. The servants of God are guided by the Holy Spirit to serve as God’s mouthpiece; believers must relate to them with faith and follow their instructions.

The Bible states that whoever believes the word of a prophet shall be blessed. (2 Chronicles 20:20). That is, someone who believes any spiritual utterance (prophecy) that is stated by a man or woman of God will be rewarded for his faith. (Of course, the prophecy has to be in compliance with the Bible!) A person who acts in faith based on the utterances that are inspired by the Holy Spirit will propers. The person’s faith and action will turn to become his blessing.

Pray for Ability to Respect Your Spiritual Leaders

Dear God, I believe that you still lead people by the Holy Spirit. You lead your servants through the Holy Spirit to minister to their people. Please help me to respect your servants. Let me operate in faith and honor them as they perform their spiritual activities. Give me the ability to support your servants as they labor to bear positive fruits for your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

ISRAELITES MUST HAVE COURAGE – Deuteronomy

Deuteronomy – Children of God Must Maintain Confidence in God

(Passage: Deuteronomy 20,21,22)

God asked Israelites to demonstrate courage and not fear their enemies during battles. They must not fear the enemies that may outnumber them. Israelites must always remember God’s past faithfulness and have confidence for future victory.

Israelites must remain strong in God. The same God who brought them out of Egypt and made them successfully pass through the wilderness would win any battle that may come their way in the future.

God said to Israelites, When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the Lord thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt” – Deuteronomy 20:1.

Christians to Draw Their Strength from Past Victory

Children of God are to remain confident in God under whatever circumstance. No matter what type of battle we confront – God is able to overcome it and earn us victory.

Jehovah will fight for his children at all cost and award us victory. We must never forget that same God who is in control of the entire world affairs is on our sides, he is big enough to overpower whatever influence our enemies may have. He will override the enemies’ sophisticated skills and weapons for the sake of glorifying his name in our lives.
