GOD’S LAW IS THE ULTIMATE – Matthew

guideline

God Expects Everyone To Obey His Laws

(Passage: Matthew 15)

All people are to consider it necessary to obey God’s laws. It is also valuable to honor the doctrines (principles) that uphold the laws.

Obedience to the call to keep the laws of God leads to receiving God’s blessings. That is, God will bless us if we obey his laws.

Despite the necessity of keeping to God’s laws and honoring the doctrines that support them, humans have the tendency to misappropriate the two – Law and doctrine. If care is not taken, we can mistakenly allow doctrine to outweigh the laws. (The reverse must be the case).

If care is not taken, humans can water-down the laws of God and become overzealous about the doctrines that ought to serve as their supports.

This discussion would be better understood by considering how the Pharisees responded to the ministry of Jesus Christ (while on earth).

Pharisees- The religion sect that was passionate about God’s laws and crafted their own version (doctrine) to support them.

The doctrines created by the Pharisees were expected to be more stringent, but unfortunately, they ended up creating loopholes for people to break God’s laws.

Also, the Pharisees turned the doctrines to tools of exploiting the masses.

The Pharisees forced people to comply with their man-made rules under the pretense that they were all-out protecting God’s sacred law. Jesus revealed the true identity of the Pharisees as they have become saboteurs of God’s law.

“He (Jesus) answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition” (Matthew 15:3-6).

God’s Law Needs Our References and Compliant

God has a position that can’t be shifted by our human tradition. God’s laws have no flaws – We must comply with them.

Humans have limitations, but God is perfect. This means we are not to mistake God’s commandments for any man-made law, which is fallible.

It is important that we all submit to God and obey his laws to receive his blessings (and not the punishments).

Of course, it is understood that humans have weaknesses, and the task to comply with the laws can be sometimes challenging; however, we must understand that our human weaknesses are not enough excuses to evade the commandments of God. We have only one choice – obey the commandments of God.

If you ever find yourself struggling to keep to God’s laws, then you should pray and allow God to help you.

A person who violates God’s law should repent and turn a new leaf, as God demands. God’s benefits will abide by people who obey and faithfully serve him.

A word of advice for religious people

People who prioritize serving God and keeping to his commandments are doing a rewarding job; however, no religious person should take the laws to his hands.

All children of God (including the gospel ministers) must follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ to teach the fundamental principle of the scriptures.

We are called to interpret the laws of God in a simple manner that people can easily understand. It is important to state that we must ensure not to confuse people with our church doctrines.

Gospel ministers must ensure not to mix church tradition with God’s law. Of course, we know those traditions can aid us in obeying God’s law, but we must not substitute the traditions for God’s laws!

People must evaluate the influences of their traditions and ensure they don’t violate the laws of God.

God will honor people who stand for righteousness and duly obey his laws.

Pray For Strength to Obey God’s Laws

Dear God, please give me the strength to honor your commandments so that I can prosper! Help me to make serving you my lifestyle. Please give me the ability to prioritize keeping to your commandments and don’t let me be carried away with human tradition. As I make efforts to do your will, please prosper me in all my ways. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

JESUS DIED FOR FREEDOM – Romans

freedom

God Sacrificed His Son For Our Freedom In All Aspects Of Life

Passage: Romans 8

No Christian is expected to live in condemnation after Jesus Christ has set him or her free.

He came to free us from sin through His atoning sacrifice. He paid the death penalty for us, freeing us from death row through His Sacrifice.

Anyone in Christ is no more under the bondage of sin; for who the Son has set free is free indeed. The scripture stated,

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

…For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1-4).

All Christians Are Free Of Sin Once They Accept Christ

Believers in Jesus Christ are not under the bondage of sin and condemnation, but we have been freed to enjoy the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are no more expected to live in condemnation after we have been saved and received forgiveness of sin.

We are now bonafide Christians qualified to receive God’s benefits through Jesus Christ!

However, Satan the enemy of righteousness has a custom of tempting God’s children into unjust condemnation. He may remind a Christian of his/her past sins after forgiveness.

Meanwhile, if Christ has set us free, we are free indeed! Since we have been born-again in Jesus, we must claim his justification.

Having said all, any Christian who is tempted to remain sad in a forgiven sin must resist the enemy outrightly.

He (or she) must affirm his stands in God by saying,

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death…” (Romans 8:1-4).

Prayer of Grace

Proclaim Freedom from Sin Through Jesus Christ

In the name of Jesus Christ, I am free of condemnation of sin. Jesus Christ has paid the penalty of my sins on the cross. He has washed me clean and made me fit for his kingdom.

…Since I have confessed and repented of my sins, I am no more under the bondage of sin, and neither does the condemnation of sin have power over me anymore.

…Jesus Christ has made me free today, tomorrow, and forever! Hallelujah, I am heaven-bound, and Christ will be my king forever. Amen!

JEREMIAH LAMENTED FOR ISRAELITES’ SINS – Lamentation

sin

Sin Irritates God; Holiness Is The Key

Passage: Lamentations 1

Prophet Jeremiah was depressed and cried for Israelites having witnessed the terrible consequences they have suffered as a result of their sins committed against God. Israelites who once enjoyed God’s full benefits have become impoverished. They lived in poverty, and many of them have become captive slaves in a foreign land. Jeremiah lamented,

“How lonely sits the city that was full of people! How like a widow is she, who was great among the nations! The princess among the provinces has become a slave! She weeps bitterly in the night, her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they have become her enemies. Judah has gone into captivity, under affliction and hard servitude; She dwells among the nations, she finds no rest; all her persecutors overtake her in dire straits” (Lamentation 1:1-3).

Sin Separates People from God

Sin destroys any good relationship that exists between God and his children. A person that intends to enjoy his (or her) relationship with God must desist from sin. Since God is not partial, he cannot pardon his child for a sin that he would punish an unbeliever for. The Creator will award his measurable punishment for everyone – Whether he/she is a child of God or not. Meanwhile, it is impossible to predict how God will punish a sinner, but in most cases, his punishment beats human imaginations. Better to be safe than sorry, someone who professes to love God should serve him in holiness to enjoy his benefits.

Divine blessing of God will follow a person that obeys his laws. The person will prosper in whatever he does. A new door of opportunity will open for him, and whatever he does shall lead to success. Also, a person who obeys the laws of God will have peace of mind and have enough strength to stay happy during adversity. God will ultimately help him to prevail in all situations.

Prayer to Live in Holiness

Dear God, I understand that you require your children to stay away from sin and serve you in holiness. I am very sorry for my past sins, and I repent of them. I ask that you please forgive my sins so that I can befit your blessings. Let the Holy Spirit empower me to faithfully serve you. Give me the ability to daily meditate in your word. Please bless me as I strive to live in holiness before you! Give me every reason to testify to your goodness in the land of the living! For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
