FAITH PROMPTS GOD TO TAKE AN ACTION ON OUR BEHALFS – Matthew

faith

Christians Must Trust That God Will Always Favor Us

(Passage: Matthew 15)

One woman proved her relentless faith in the power of God through Jesus Christ; she persuaded Christ for the healing of her child. Jesus didn’t make her request easy; he tested her faith with a common Jewish tradition, but the woman did not give in. She passed the test by demonstrating her remarkable trust in the power of Christ. The Savior immediately granted her request based on the conviction.

The Bible describes the woman’s style of approach to demand her daughter’s miracle. She said,

“… Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” But He (Jesus) answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” “But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.” (Matthew 15:22-28).

Believers To Have Confidence In God Despite Our Challenges

Christians must demonstrate an irresistible and consistent faith in Jesus Christ at all times. We must be persistent in our prayers and have an unshakable faith that moves God’s hands to take an action. Indeed, God expects his worshippers and believers to make their requests with steadfast trust. Some situations may challenge our faith to doubt God, but we must remain confident that our God of possibilities is well and able to help us. Jehovah can do all things; he will answer our prayers and make us laugh with a testimony of victory.

Any Christian who demonstrates unwavering faith in God will live an overcomer’s life on earth.

Pray For God’s Strength To Exercise Faith

Dear God, please give me the strength to demonstrate an unwavering faith in you! Help me to pray in faith and have the expectations that you are more than able to perfect whatever that concerns me! I know you are well and able to grant me victory in all situations. Please help me to remain confident in you always so that I can testify your goodness to other people! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

PRIDE IS DESTRUCTIVE TO ANYONE – Esther

pride

Christians Must Do Away With Pride To Experience God’s Benefits

(Passage: Esther 1)

Queen Vashti dishonored her husband, King Ahasuerus, in the presence of the dignitaries and ran into trouble. The queen turned down her husband’s request who asked her to dance to showcase her beauty. Vashti insulted the king and asked him to mind his business. Therefore, the ruling cabinet was disappointed and dethroned her as the queen of the land. They sort out for a better replacement. The Bible described the incident,

“On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold. But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him” (Esther 1:10-12).

God Can Easily Do Away With Proud People

Pride goes before a fall! All Christians must be humble before God at all times. We must not be obsessed with positions and/or power. We must yield to every necessary correction. Children of God must not forget that we are replaceable. That is, God has plenty of options; he can easily replace anyone’s position. Therefore, all people must tremble before God and ensure not to allow pride to gain ground in our lives.

Prayer For Divine Help To Remain Humble

Dear God, please teach me how to be humble before you. Let me yield to your instructions and corrections so that I can experience your promotions. Please save me from pride since it will lead to a destruction! Please, let me yield to the leadership of the Holy Spirit so that I can be successful throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.

LOVE IS A DIVINE GIFT FROM GOD – 1 Corinthians

true love

True Christians Must Practice God’s Love

(Passage: 1 Corinthians 13)

Christianity is rooted in God’s love, and every Christian must demonstrate sincere love. Paul explained the necessity of love to the Corinthian brethren and said,

“If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud” (1 Corinthians 13:3-4 NLT).

love truly

Christians Should Exercise True Love Like Christ

Christ’s love must be found among all Christians. Nothing is remotely significant as true love. Christ came to love, he preached love, and he died and resurrected for love’s sake! Christ’s love is selfless, pure, and positive. It was meant for everyone to prosper and benefit from God’s kingdom. Hence, everyone who claims to be followers of Jesus Christ must prove his or her faith with sincere love. If we claim to believe Christ, we must truly love other people; we must seek their welfare, and we must pray for their salvation. God’s blessings are bound to follow people that genuinely love others.

GOD’S VALIDATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS – 1 Chronicles

God’s Guidance Helps Us Survive – The Holy Spirit!

Kind David authorized a military census that God did not approve, and he was punished for his action. Since David’s sinful action was evident in Israel. His unapproved census was expunged from history, and the record was never referenced in the land. The scripture confirmed,

“Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David” (1 Chronicles 27:24 KJV).

The Holy Spirit Is Our Guide

As children of God, we must endeavor to operate within our approved jurisdictions, and never attempt to usurp God’s sovereign power. Also, we must allow the Holy Spirit to guide our operations, rather than yielding to emotion and carnal suggestions. With all certainty, God will help us if we consult him on any matter. However, our failure to seek God’s face in any situation will lead to disaster! Instead of yielding to pride and selfish cravings, we must go to God in prayer. Every child of God must consider it a priority to walk with God and yield to his instructions.

GOD DEFENDS HIS FAITHFUL SERVANTS

faithful

The Records of God’s Faithfulness Towards His Children are Uncountable

King Asa of Judah served God and was prosperous in his days. God also, gave him rest from his enemies. The king, who had just five hundred thousand soldiers was able to defeat 1.3 million enemies that challenged him. The scriptures reported,

“Then Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah. So Asa went out against him, and they set the troops in battle array in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for you to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on you, and in your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against you!” So the Lord struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled” (2 Chronicles 14:9-12).

God Will Always Fight For His Children

God is faithful and He will protect his children from their enemies. Although believers may sometimes, face life battles that appear challenging, God is strong enough to overcome them. God will overcome any opposition that confronts his children irrespective of its fierceness! The Creator will protect His children and earn them the victory to ensure they are not ashamed. In other words, there’s no mountain too high or valley too low, that God cannot overcome for us. We (God’s children who trust Him) will live to see the light of another day, and we shall have every reason to glorify Him in the victory.

UNHOLY RICHES ARE THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL – Luke

riches

True Christians Should Avoid Unholy Means To Becoming Wealthy

(Passage: Luke 16)

Jesus Christ cautioned and warned his disciples not to be involved in unjust riches, but seek pure wealth that glorify God. Jesus said,

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Luke 16:10-13).

riches

Unholy Pursuit Of Wealth Goes Against God’s Will

The pursuit of clean riches is not evil, but the pursuit of unclean riches is evil. Hence, Christians must not pursue riches at the expense of holiness. As children of God, we must evaluate our ambitions, and we must ensure that God’s rules are not violated. We must also, strive to be involved in only careers that glorify God. It is important to note that God keeps records of our activities, and he will duly reward us in this life, and in heaven also.

Don’t be a hypocrite!

PROMISES MADE TO GOD MUST BE FULFILLED – 1 Samuel

promises

Good Christians Must Fulfill All Promises Made To God To Avoid His Wrath

(1 Samuel 1:11)

Hannah was barren; she prayed and asked God for a child, and she promised to dedicate any first child she has to him. Hannah said in her prayers,

“LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head” (1 Samuel 1:11).

God answered Hannah’s prayer, and she gave birth to a son called Samuel! The lady honored her promise and brought Samuel to God. She approached God’s prophet and said,

“Pardon me, my lord. As surely as you live, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD. I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD” (1 Samuel 1:26-28).

A Promise Is A Debt; It Must Be Fulfilled

Anyone who promises God anything is under an oath; he or she must fulfill whatever is promised. Jehovah does not take our promises as a joke; he will surely wait for the fulfillment of all promises! No child of God should be too complacent with his or her success and forget to fulfill any needed debt to God. Meanwhile, some people make special promises to God when they were in trouble. They might have said; “God, if you can help me in this situation, I will do so and so for you.” However, they soon forgot their promises once their prayers are answered. God will definitely not be happy with this situation. He wants his children to honor their promises and be grateful to him. He may decide to delay future blessings until his children honor him. Therefore, all people must respect God, and fulfill their promises to him.

Redeem your pledges to God as soon as possible!

Prayer For Forgiveness & Grace To Redeem Pledges

Pray for the strength to keep your promises.

Dear God, I am sorry if I have failed to honor my promises to you. I repent today, and I am determined to mend my broken relationship with you. I redeem all my pledges, and I will make you happy with my offerings. In fact, I will bring a special thanksgiving offering to you, and I will share the testimony of your goodness in my life to all people. Please grant me the grace to fulfill all my promises, and let me remain your favorite child. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

GOD RESPECTS AN AGREEMENT – Judges

promise

True Believers Must Be Aware Of Their Promises

(Passage: Judges 11)

Judge Jephthah found himself between a rock and a hard place by making an irrevocable vow to God. He promised to offer an important sacrifice to God if he could help him overcome his enemies. Jephthah said,

“Whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the people of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord’s, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering” (Judges 11:31).

God answered Jephthah’s prayer, but lo and behold, it was her only child who came to welcome him to his door-post when he returned from the battle. He found himself in a situation that he had to give up her only daughter. (Please note: This type of sacrifice is no more relevant today!). The scripture reported,

“When Jephthah came to his house at Mizpah, there was his daughter, coming out to meet him with timbrels and dancing; and she was his only child. Besides her, he had neither son nor daughter. And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low! You are among those who trouble me! For I have given my word of the Lord, and I cannot go back on it.” So she said to him, “My father, if you have given your word to the Lord, do to me according to what has gone out of your mouth, because the Lord has avenged you of your enemies, the people of Ammon” (Judges 11:34-36).

Jephthah decided to honor his promise despite the magnitude.

Be Watchful; God Cannot Be Cheated

God deserves to be respected at all times. We must respect him, and we must keep our promises to him. Meanwhile, believers must understand that we cannot be rash in our promises to God. We must be careful not to make ambiguous promises when we are in the presence of God. We must weigh our words and consider their magnitudes – since God does not respect jokes! He will not hesitate to register our promises and ask for their fulfillment.

God will keep asking us for his rights (promise) until we fulfill them. Therefore, believers must be careful not to make empty promises to God.

God will bless anyone who duly fulfills his promises to him. He will ensure the person is blessed so that he or she can be motivated to keep the practice of honoring his/her promises.

TRUSTING GOD PAYS – Judges

trusting god

True Christians Should Focus On Carrying Out God’s Plans

(Passage: Judges 20)

Trusting God pays off in the end. The tribe of Benjamin rebelled against the remaining eleven tribes of Israel, and they instigated the civil war. The eleven tribes who remained united asked God for a strategy to use against their rebel brothers, and he gave them some specific instructions. Meanwhile, the Israelites lost the battle, because they failed to closely follow their God-given strategy; however, they were not discouraged but trusted God. The people did not stop asking God for directions. On their third attempt, after duly following God’s order, the united Israelites conquered Benjamin’s tribe. They conquered their leaders, and they brought the whole tribe to its knees. The scripture reported how the Israelites eventually conquered the revolting Benjamin Tribe. It is reported;

“But when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and, behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven. And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them. Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them. Thus they inclosed the Benjamites round about, and chased them, and trode them down with ease over against Gibeah toward the sunrising. And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men… So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour…” (Judges 20:40-46 KJV).

Following God’s Instructions Would Lead You To Victories

Trusting God has enormous benefits.

God still leads people today; he leads his children to take appropriate steps that will benefit their lives. However, things may sometimes go contrary to God’s plans when we do not follow his instructions to the letter. Notwithstanding, we should not be discouraged when we do not get the expected results, rather we should summon the courage to understand God’s instructions well, and adherently follow them.

Christians must not hesitate to consult God over and over again until we have our expected solutions. Our heavenly Father will definitely respond to our cries. He will answer our prayers and guide us into victories.

Prayer For Grace To Follow God’s Instruction

Dear God, please teach me how to duly follow your instructions, so that I can have my expected victories over life situations. When you lead, let me follow; and when I follow, let me prosper. Let me have victory today, tomorrow, and throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

SALVATION IS NOT INHERITED BUT EARNED – Luke

salvation

True Christianity Entails Faith In Jesus Christ

(Passage: Luke 13)

Jesus Christ emphasized that the door of his kingdom will not be open to just anyone who claims to be a Christian. The Savior has made it clear that not everyone who calls him, Lord would be allowed to enter heaven, except those who strive hard in their race to eternal life. Jesus said,

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last” (Luke 13:24-30).

Christianity Is A Personal Race

Salvation is easy to describe; It is a means of escape that Jesus Christ offered (with his life) To rescue sinners from the punishments of hell fire. However, a person can only be saved when he/she personally accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Hence, it must be conceived that salvation is personal; it cannot be inherited, and it cannot be obtained on behalf of others. An individual must personally confess Jesus Christ and accept him as Lord to be accepted into God’s kingdom.

It is possible for someone to regularly go to church and yet not be saved. No person is awarded salvation through Christian activities – everyone must personally confess his or her faith in Jesus Christ to be saved!

Prayer Of Faith In Jesus Christ

Dear Lord, I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son sent from heaven to save people from the devil; therefore, I profess my faith in him. I confess that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and he rose from the dead to give me eternal life. Hence, I accept him as my personal Lord and Savior. I also confess my sins, and I forsake them. I believe that I am now a born-again Christian, and I promise to faithfully serve God for the rest of my life. Amen.
