ACTIVE DECISIONS OVERCOME CHALLENGES – Nehemiah

decisions

Faith In God Delivers Us From Challenges

(Passage: Nehemiah 4)

You can’t completely escape challenges in this world, but be sure you will overcome if you are a child of God.

Believers must have confidence in God that we serve. We must make efforts through prayer and fasting to stop our opponents, and not allow them to keep us down. We serve God who has all the powers to take control of any situation.

Of course, a Christian should not fold hands in idleness and still expect to have victory. We have to bravely think and act.

Children of God must not hesitate to take any action as it honors God and necessary to confront our challenges. As we take the step, we must have the assurance that God is on our side to earn us victory.

Let’s learn from the Bible men who took courage to forge ahead in spite of the challenges they faced:

Two rebel leaders in the Bible, Sanballat and Tobiah challenged Nehemiah who wanted to glorify God by rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem (A ruined city once dedicated to God’s honor).

Sanballat and Tobiah did all they could to stop the rebuild efforts, but they failed.

Part of the effort from Sanballat and Tobiah includes mockery and false accusations. None of those efforts stuck, because Nehemiah and his people prayed and were determined to do the will of God.

The scripture reported how Sanballat and Tobiah attacked Nehemiah and his men on the mission to repair Jerusalem’s wall:

“But it so happened, when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, that he was furious and very indignant, and mocked the Jews. And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish—stones that are burned?” Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Whatever they build, if even a fox goes up on it, he will break down their stone wall” (Nehemiah 4:1-3).

No Opposition Can Derail God’s Children In Their Decisions

Nehemiah and his men summon the courage to keep working for God. They were determined not to yield to enemies’ pressure. (Of course, expect they also prayed!)

Nehemiah and his men prayed and acted against their enemies; they stood to defend themselves, and they had good success.

Nehemiah said in his prayers:

“Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity! Do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have provoked you to anger before the builders…

Therefore I (Nehemiah) Positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses” (Nehemiah 4:4-5; Nehemiah 4:13-14).

Trust In God and You Shall Conquer Every Challenge

Be prepared: Christian opposition like Sanballat and Tobiah will sometimes come around to frustrate the efforts of God’s children. We must be prepared not to let them succeed.

The enemies may mount oppositions that are not limited to physical and spiritual assault; their ultimate goal is to make God’s children compromise their stand with God. But will they win? No, they won’t win if we are prayerful and are determined in our positive decisions.

The more we prepare, the better our victory will become. The enemies don’t encourage good ventures. They are all out for evil, so we must be prayerful and sensitive.

Be sensitive not to allow your enemies to fulfill their mission. Identify the enemies’ scheme, be prayerful, and make a godly tactical decision to stop them.

Ask God for the grace to trust him and he will surely help you overcome any dire situation.

Pray For God’s Grace To Make Proactive Decisions.

Dear God, I trust in you and I pray that you will give me the grace and wisdom to appropriately relate to issues of life. Help me to have the wisdom and strength needed to overcome any challenge that enemies may want to bring my way.

Please frustrate anyone who may want to stop my efforts in serving you. Let the generation of Sanballat and Tobiah be defeated in my life!

I receive your grace to remain confident so that I can continue to serve you in Spirit and in truth, as you required.

Please keep me victorious always, and let me ever testify to your goodness. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

OUR TRUST SHOULD BE ONLY IN GOD – Luke

trust

Christians Must Absolutely Trust God Only; Humans Are Fallible

(Passage: Luke 22)

Christians must understand that the only reliable and trust-worthy being is the Supreme God.

He is the only one that truly cares for you and won’t let you down in times of trouble.

The bible makes us understand that the heart of a man is deceitful and desperately wicked.

Judas Iscariot released himself for the devil’s use; he betrayed Jesus Christ with a kiss.

It is reported,

“And while He was still speaking, behold, a multitude; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” (Luke 22:47-48).

Human May Fail But God Never Fails

If a close associate like Judas Iscariot could betray Jesus Christ, who else should we trust? (Luke 22:47-48).

It is obvious that our present world has a problem with “Trust.” The world is full of hate and rage; acts of self-centeredness have dominated it from every side!

However, the followers of Jesus Christ still have hope in this present world; we have God’s love that prevails over evil!

We can still look up to God and some fellow believers. Meanwhile, no believer is expected to place absolute trust in a fellow human being.

Complete and absolute trust must be placed in God who remains infallible. God never fails even when people fail us.

A fellow human being may disappoint us, but God will never do!

Pray For Grace To Have Absolute Trust In God

Dear God, please help me to place my absolute faith in you. Help me to love people, but let my absolute trust be placed on you. Let me look up to you for all my needs. I understand and believe that you will send me the necessary people to meet my needs at all times.

…Let my absolute trust be reserved in you at all times so that I can live successfully and happily on earth. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

God Defends His Children Always

defense

God Will Defend A True Believer From His Enemy

The righteous person may have many troubles, but God delivers him from them all; for God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

David walked in the midst of trouble, yet God preserved his life. He punished some fellows that killed King Saul’s son Ishbosheth. He refused to meet their reward expectations for helping him attack his enemy. Instead of honor, David punished the men! The scripture reported;

“But David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, “As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from all adversity, when someone told me, saying, ‘Look, Saul is dead,’ thinking to have brought good news, I arrested him and had him executed in Ziklag—the one who thought I would give him a reward for his news. How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous person in his own house on his bed? Therefore, shall I not now require his blood at your hand and remove you from the earth?” So David commanded his young men, and they executed them, cut off their hands and feet, and hanged them by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the tomb of Abner in Hebron” (2 Samuel 4:9-12).

Trust That God Will Always Defend and Solve Your Problem

Children of God may not necessarily need to use a physical weapon against their enemies. God is well and able to defend his own children with his supernatural strength.

God never fails and he picks a battle to fight for his people. Once God is involved in any battle, the story end will be unimaginable! Hence, we children of God should allow the Creator to operate as he wishes.

We should not attempt to help him in a battle since he knows the best medium to fight and have victory.

All people should reserve their trust in God of heaven – who is the only indomitable and indefatigable deity. He is an infallible Jehovah God who fights victoriously for his own people.

God fights for his children. Most times you might be going through stuff and all of a sudden it disappears. It isn’t a coincidence, it is God. God works in miraculous ways to make our lives easier. Surrender all to him and he will make it perfect.

Pray For The Grace To Trust In God

Dear God, please help me to trust you in all situations, and help me to affirm trust that you will help in every situation that comes my way. Do not let me take laws in my hands against the adversaries. I know that you can help, and you will surely help me! Therefore, grant me the patience and grace to allow your full operations in my life. Let me allow you to handle every matter in a way that will honor and glorify your holy name, and bless my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ your Son I make my requests. Amen.
