Christians Must Be Humble and Let God Take The Glory
(Passage: Esther 1)
Queen Vashti dishonored King Ahasuerus (her husband) in the presence of the dignitaries of her countries and she ran into trouble. The queen publicly turned down her husband’s request when asked to showcase her beauty. Vashti responded by asking King Ahasuerus to mind his business while she minds hers. The insult did not go well with the king and his dignitaries, therefore they ruled that Vashti be removed from her position and be replaced with someone who has better characteristics. The Bible reported,
“On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold. But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him” (Esther 1:10-12).
Humility Is Far Better Than Pride
Pride leads to a downfall!
Children of God must be people of good characters. Among other characteristics, we must have the humility to reflect the beauty of Jesus Christ our Lord.
A Christian should not be obsessed with a position and/or power. We must understand that we are replaceable in any position that we occupy.
God has plenty of people that he can use for our assignments; therefore, whoever has the privilege to operate in any certain position should not get carried away. Such person should tremble before God and allow him to take due glory.
Pray for Grace to Be Humble and not Entertain Pride
Dear God, please make me someone who is humble before you. Make me someone that is not obsessed with a position or power. Keep me humble, irrespective of my position, so that due glorify can be given to your name. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
