The Deed of Jesus for Humanity
(Passage: Revelation 5)
Humanity living in sin deserving God’s punishment of destruction has obtained special mercy through Jesus Christ. See how it happen:
God invited the heavenly beings for dialogue. He stated his intention to save humanity from their sin; otherwise, he would be forced to destroy them. God asked his heavenly servants, “Who among you will go to save the world?” You could hear a pin-drop in heaven as everyone was silent.
No one among the heavenly beings was willing to save the earth – Not even the famous Angel Michael or Angel Gabriel was willing to help us! But why? The answer is very simple:
None of the hosts of heaven was willing to volunteer to save humanity because they understood the task would not be easy; they were aware of these two facts:
- Satan, who held the world captive in sin, would refute anyone on an errand to deliver humanity.
- Humans in need of help are difficult species. (God’s angels knew humans as ingrates; they would be skeptical, harass, and kill their helper).
As unfruitful as the case for seeking a volunteer to save humanity was, someone in heaven decided to turn the table around. Jesus broke the record; he broke the silence in heaven and said, “Father, send me!”
Beyond any suffering involved with the task to save humanity, Jesus knew what was at stake. It means, without a savior, humanity would suffer the consequence of eternal destruction for their sins.
Read how the heavenly beings went silent and how Jesus broke the silence with good news:
“And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” (Revelation 5:1-5).
Does Christ Deserve Anything For Saving Humanity?
Jesus Christ gave a willing effort to rescue the earth; does his effort deserve anything in return? The answer is “Yes!”
Of course, Jesus doesn’t need our money for the sacrifice he made to save us (people of the earth); however, God rewarded him with something special that relates to us all. God awarded Jesus the highest honor.
It is written:
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
The above reference means a person can only become a child of God through confession of faith in Jesus Christ.
Indeed the salvation of Jesus Christ is free, but the process of obtaining it requires our active effort.
For anyone to be saved, he (she) must express his belief in Jesus Christ. He must confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The person must also declare Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
Pray and Confess Your Faith in Jesus to be Saved
Dear God, I am glad that Jesus Christ volunteered to save humanity! I am also glad that my sins are forgivable, and I can actually become a child of God through confession of faith in Jesus Christ.
I am taking the step of faith today: I confess Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. From now on, I will obey God, serve Him, and faithfully follow Jesus Christ for the rest of my life.
Please give me the grace to serve you unto the end. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I have prayed. Amen.
