THE LIGHT OF GOD HAS COME TO THOSE IN DARKNESS – Colossians

Accept The Lordship Of Jesus Christ To Be Saved!

Passage: Colossians 1

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, provides free salvation for the human soul. Anyone who believes in Jesus and confesses him as his/her personal Lord will be saved.

Paul explained the person of Jesus Christ and his remarkable strength that became our blessing. Paul said,

He (God) has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love (Jesus Christ), in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence (Colossians 1:13-18).

CHRISTIAN RACE REQUIRES YOUR DEDICATION – Colossians

heaven

Don’t Be Deceived; You Will Reap Whatever You Sowed

Passage: Colossians 3

Christians are heavenly bound people; we run a spiritual race that must land us in God’s kingdom. Believers must keep focus and not allow worldly activities to distract us. Earthly activities may be stimulating, but they will only be temporal! (God will soon put an end to this earth and its sinful activities.)

Christians have the reward of heaven to earn at God’s appointed time. Therefore, we must not allow temporal earthly activities to influence us.

Bible warned the believers,

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-3).

Stay In Faith For An Eternal Benefit:

Heaven has many benefits, but they won’t be handed to anyone cheaply. Whoever intends to inherit the kingdom of God must daily carry his cross and follow Jesus Christ.

A dedicated believer deserving God’s heavenly reward must follow the laws of God. He must also follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit. (The Holy Spirit empowers believers to obey God’s laws.)

Christians must resist the temptation of sin. We must strive to satisfy God in holiness as the Bible instructs, “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry” (Colossians 3:5).

The Scripture also asks the Christians to be moral, as it is written,

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.  But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection” (Colossians 3:12-14).

Pray For The Strength To Satisfy God’s Holiness Desire:

Dear God, I understand you require your children to set their eyes on things that are heavenly (which are eternal). You also ask your children to disengage from sinful activities so that we can run a successfully Christian race; therefore, I ask that you, please empower me by the Holy Spirit to meet your expectations. Count me among the people that will rejoice in your presence forever in heaven. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

GOD HATES JEALOUSY; STAY AWAY FROM IT – Genesis

jealousy

All Christians Must Do Away With Jealousy And Live A Life Void Of It

Joseph had a special dream that God had planned to make him the leader of his father’s house. He shared his dream with his family in innocence, with the hope that everyone will, applaud, accept, and help him achieve his dreams. He was wrong. His brothers became jealous and hated him. They were willing to do everything possible to stop his dream from actualizing.

Joseph’s brothers conspired to kill him but later sold him to slavery. The scriptures reported Joseph’s brothers actions,

“Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. Then they said to one another, “Look, this dreamer is coming! Come, therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams!” … “And they sat down to eat a meal. Then they lifted their eyes and looked, and there was a company of Ishmaelites, coming from Gilead with their camels, bearing spices, balm, and myrrh, on their way to carry them down to Egypt. So Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is there if we kill our brother and conceal his blood? Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother and our flesh.” And his brothers listened. Then Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt” (Genesis 37:18-20; Genesis 37:25-28).

jealousy

Jealousy Can Make Us Lose God’s Blessings

A good Christian is expected to be selfless and not be jealous of other people’s achievements. As Christians, we must be satisfied with whatever we have. We must be contented and trust that God will meet our needs. Believers must be sensitive to any elements of jealousy, and ensure to immediately uproot its influence before it gets out of hand. Jealousy will make a person lose sight of any effort that can benefit him, and focus on other people’s dream, wealth, and/or ambition.

Meanwhile, an act of jealousy is a sin against God (Exodus 20:17). It is, therefore, important that Christians choose to live a selfless lifestyle. Any Christian who exercises godliness and refuse to entertain jealousy will be blessed by God. The person will have more reasons to maintain his godly attitude.

Satan can manipulate anyone through jealousy and we can see this in Joseph’s story. Spend some minutes daily thinking about what you have and thank God for it. God will continue to help you!

Prayer For God’s Grace To Be Humble

Dear God, please keep me humble to appreciate your grace and goodness in my life. Do not let me be jealous of others. Don’t let me entertain selfish thoughts, or engage in an action that can negatively affect other people’s progress. Let me be an agent of positive change in people’s lives, so that your name can be praised! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

GOD REQUIRES PURITY FROM EVERYONE – Matthew

purity

People Must Keep A Contrite Spirit For The Sake of Heaven

Passage: Matthew 18

Jesus Christ preached about the qualification of God’s kingdom and used little children as an illustration. Christ stated no one will qualify for heaven unless he (or she) has a tender heart like little children. It is written,

The disciples of Jesus asked, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me” (Matthew 18:1-20).

greatness

God’s Measure of Greatness is Different From Human’s Measure of Greatness

Human’s perception of greatness is mostly different from what God declares! People in the world describe greatness with relevance to material wealth, position, and power. However, God’s own measure of greatness emphasizes “godliness.”

Greatness has much to do with faith and practices. That is, someone who wins this materialistic world but denies Christ will not be considered as “great” by God. Such person will not qualify for God’s kingdom. The bible states, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

Anyone who will satisfy God’s description of greatness must have an open mind to learn and practice the word of God. A great person, according to the right standard, must love God. He must repent of his sins and confess Christ Lord. He must also be humble and not resent others. A great person must forgive others. He must also preach the gospel of Jesus to other people.

HUMANS ARE REQUIRED TO OBEY GOD’S LAWS – 2 Kings

obedience

Everyone Must Be In Compliance With God’s Laws

Passage: 2 Kings 23

All people are required to obey God’s laws. Humans find this simple commandment challenging; therefore, they rationalize and look for every opportunity to evade it. Meanwhile, everyone knows that God would never ask us to do whatever is impossible. He won’t ask us to do what we are not capable of doing. God who asks us to comply with his commandment of obedience also knows we can do it. His grace is ever available for us to always meet his expectations.

God has endowed his grace on humans to have the capability of accomplishing whatever we have set out hearts to do. That is, we can meet the standard of God if we choose to do so. Some people have chosen to meet God’s expectations, and they had God’s blessings to reap for their efforts.

Let’s delve into the Bible and learn from someone who chose to disrupt the routine disobedient acts of his time. He was defiant to the sinful practices of his time and complied with God’s laws.

King Josiah in the Bible is our case study. He was a small boy and chose to do what any adult of his time wouldn’t attempt. He shunned idol worship and other disobedient activities.

Josiah was just eight years old when he became the king of Judah. He succeeded some evil kings who care less about the laws of God. Josiah stood his ground to make his people faithfully serve God and obey his commandments.

Josiah ensured the desire to faithfully serve God was a matter of national priority. In his efforts to achieve this goal, he ordered the priests to educate the citizens on God’s laws.

Josiah’s efforts paid off as he was able to successfully win the heart of his people for God. The Bible described his exploits,

“The king sent them to gather all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem to him. The king went up to the house of the Lord with all the men of Judah, and with him all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the house of the Lord. The king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant” (2 Kings 23:1-3).

Obedience Means Everything to God, and He Rewards It

God rewards obedience. In fact, it could be said that a person who intends to receive the blessing of God should dare to obey his commandments. That is, people who keep the laws of God have automatically positioned themselves to receive the blessings of God.

It takes a conscious effort to obey God and faithfully serve him! To make this happen, we must study our Bible to understand what God requires.

(The Bible, which is the word of God is affordable, and can be easily possessed by everyone).

In addition, anyone who intends to fully obey God must give room for the leadership of the Holy Spirit in his life. Why? Holy Spirit empowers us to faithfully serve God. The Spirit of God gives the appropriate insight that we need to have a divine interpretation of the word of God. In short, Holy Spirit gives us everything we need to fully obey God.

It must be resonating that no one can manipulate God when the subject of obedience is discussed. A person cannot claim to obey God while he is acting otherwise. God cannot be deceived; he will appropriately reward everyone based on their sincerity.

obey godGod Searches Our Hearts and Knows Our Thoughts

God who knows all things will evaluate everyone’s activities and adequately reward us. Someone who indulges in sin should not expect to be positively rewarded. Also, the rebels – those who willingly go against the laws of God, and those who reject the salvation offer of his Son Jesus Christ will not have a portion in God’s kingdom. Unfortunately, their disobedient acts will qualify them for eternal damnation of hell fire.

People who obey God and faithfully serve him will reap the reward of their efforts in this life and in heaven. That is, God will bless his obedient children with some indescribable blessings in this life and next life.
